Did you install the original Piper flap fairings (gap seals)? Beautiful Smith Cub...I'm just getting started on mine. You have a treasure trough of information here! Thanks very much for the work you did to share this.

Actually, Nick never sent those along...Sigh...Craig is planning to make his own once he gets over to a local shop that has a brake big enough to bend the whole length as one piece. He tried bending one set without using a big brake and yuck...so he plans to do it right one of these days. Mark keeps harassing him so he'll get it done. Other than the Viking head, which I railed against (despite being a Scandinavian living in MN), it turned out pretty cool! (our new Vikings owner, Ziggy Wilf liked it when he stopped by - so my whining goes unheeded...). I got a chance to taxi it around a few days ago and it feels great. I hope the paperwork gets here SOMEDAY!!

Nick hasn't furnished anyone that I know of with the flap gap seals. I found blanks available from Univair for about $40 when they get them back in stock. The blanks are 68" long and will fit the standard wing flaps, but I believe your extended wings have 80" flaps. Steve Tubbs has them fabricated locally in McCall, ID and they use a large break for the parts. A roller would make a cleaner shape, but the ones made in Idaho look pretty good. Your Cub is a beauty, I'm sure the paperwork will catch up with it soon. Perfect timing for Spring.

Hey Thanks for the idea about Steve. I didn't even think about that. Nick claims that the Cub flies fine without them but I'm not sure I buy this. In other news, found out this afternoon that the paperwork went to the desk of a guy on vacation, who's now decided to take an extra week. !!! They promised to get on it right away. We'll see...It's already time to put the floats on! (flew a PA-12 around this evening and most of the lakes are wide open as of today.)
