Fuel Flow Sensor Questions

I am looking at installing a fuel flow instrument in my new panel? A safety concern I had is what happens if the wheel inside the sensor seizes up, will it restrict the fuel flow? I went back through some old discussions on this topic and it is a restriction by itself so you have to ensure the correct size transducer is used to account for that restriction. Thanks.

No, it won't restrict flow substantially. The manufacturers of these devices have to demonstrate that they are essentially fail safe in that regard.

That is, if you buy a certified product, which I assume you're talking about.

Thanks for your reply. Yes it would be a certified product, one of the 2 that has been discussed on this site (EI or JPI) previously. If I understand you correctly, they are designed with enough capacity that should the wheel seize, say on take-off and committed, I would still be able to complete the take-off, do a go around and land safely.
