Bob, my 12 was kinda nose-heavy, and with Bodell brakes I had to be very careful about heavy braking. A big no-no on sand. I've never nosed one over, but scared myself a couple times - - In the rebuild, the CG will be moving aft some.
It seemed to me, though I never measured, that I could stop shorter on gravel by carrying a dab of power to hold the tail down. Sound too crazy???
