What was the title of the movie where the airliner spotted the crop duster airplane over the South Pacific and directed him to an airport?

Got it.
Mercy Mission: The Rescue of Flight 771.
Robert Loggia played the airline captain.

The interesting fact is the Captain was Gordon Vette fron Air New Zealand who played a major role in the determining the cause of the Erebus accident. His first officer was Malcomb Forsythe had been a navigator in his previous role in the New Zealand airforce.Between the two of them they achieved a remarkable feat of airmanship.

I watched Mercy Mission last nite. The full movie is on you tube. Excellent movie really enjoyed watching it.

A long time ago while out on a night mission near the Gulf/no. Fla a young girls voice broke in on guard " is there anybody out there I'm over water and haven't seen lights in a long time" . A airline crew came on and started talking to her. We never heard what happen as we were low level and lost contact, never heard anything guessing they got her turn ashore and ok. Was kinda eerie though.

Yes - Truly stunning achievement. First read it in American Safety Digest magazine & felt it was even better than the film. A great team effort, with phenomenal outcome.
Not to actually knock the film but............words cannot say enough of the DC10 professionalism and the Cessna pilots feelings
