Won't make any difference. Doesn't matter not only has this guy accomplished nothing he's threatened the freedoms of others. Pick your battles.

OK now I'm mad, I left DC yesterday morning and missed it. Not great for GA but I do have to admire his conviction and expression of free speech but what's next? "Candy-Gram for Mongo, Candy-Gram for Mongo..."

No machine guns, no fighter escort, no Blackhawk helicopters??? No fly zones, TFRs, Security ??? So a mailman can fly his gyrocopter to the Whitehouse and land unstopped and undetected??? So a gyrocopter is a perfect stealth vehicle??? In six months General Dynamics will be selling gyrocopters to the government for 6 million dollars a pop. Can we get in on this "new" technology and make some big money, too????? Look, here comes Hillary and Bill on matching red white and blue gyrocopters designated U.S.Roto One and U S Roto Two and they are surrounded by two dozen secret service agents on black gyrocopters. It is a sight to make you cry!!! Monty Python couldn't think this up. Can you hear that roar in the background?? It is the rest of the world laughing at us!!!! jrh

Reminds me of Mathius Rust landing that 172 in Red Sqaure. If we have learned anything, defense systems are useless in asymetric actions.

Hillary on a gyrocopter? Those solo gyro's have a 250 pound pilot weight restriction.

This is the story of the Bismark. all the high tech guns could not stop some little cloth airplanes from stopping the mightyest war machine in the world.

This gyrocopter pilot did a foolish thing and one does need to question his judgement. However, he did prove how foolish and ignorant BIG government policies are. Now matter what type of glass house Big government builds around themselves, no matter how many thousands of law abiding folks are inconvenienced, no matter how many billions of dollars are spent, no matter how much bloviating the politicians do, no matter etc, etc, etc. A lowly gyrocopter can still penetrate a 60 mile diameter no fly zone and land safely right in the center of the circle. Hey BIG government, the great depression of the 30s is over you can shut down the WPA and the CCC. They are not needed any more.

Most of the good folks here on dot org understand this, however we are just a tickle on the Elephant which gets switched away with his tail in a cloud of dust.

For you youngsters google WPA and CCC for an education.

I have to admit all that grass on the National Mall could be tempting, but then again it's so long you could do stop and go's in a Bonazna at ease...

Careful Sky... All that commonsense is nudging this towards R&R.

Not the first time. This was in 1922. Somewhere there is a video of the a landing where the plane rolls up on the steps.

That was Lawrence Sperry and his Sperry Messinger. Were he with us today, he'd be flying a Super Cub and posting here. His family lived very close to me so when his biography came out I read it. There is a story in there that one day he was flying his flying boat over the Great South bay "testing the auto pilot". His passenger was some
Socialite he was courting. The airplane had a hard landing and the story quoted from the NY Times said when rescuers reached them they found "the force of the crash divested them of their clothing."
