Hood scoop ???

Hmmm, looks like a 1950 Lincoln Limousine; you gearheads please correct me. I think President Truman used just such a thing, and maybe Eisenhower, probably other VIP's. Either that or Maine Fish and Game was VERY well funded.

Thanks. cubscout
When I was 10 yrs old or so, Percival Baxter used to come to my dad's shop in a car like that and his personal protection was provided by game wardens when he was in this area. One of them that was regularly with him was Warden Dave Priest.

Hummm I didnt realize they had automobiles back when you were 10 years old! WoW.:p
I was just assuming Warden Pilots pay was so high in 1950 (55 bucks a week)that Lincoln was simply Chief Pilot Bill Turgeons personal ride, and those fellas were just leanin on it tellin flying storys????
This is how they paid for the Lincoln! Writing tickets....DEE1601Archive_3-696x580.jpg

An even better part of the Gov. Baxter story (Baxter State Park) is that in the late fifties, he bought both small outboard motors and some of the early Polaris iron-dog type snow sleds for use by his rangers in the park. My older brother, Wayne, and I went into the park with Helon Taylor to show him how to use it. Great memories.

Someone asked if the warden on the right in the limo photo was George Later. No, but here are two photos of George. Jake Morrel9C38438F-B47F-41A1-8295-657AEC87D466.jpeg9F301D60-A72B-4FEF-A6C4-913CC314B115.jpeg

George and I flew and stayed togeather at Tickchik Lodge flying for Bob Curtis back in 1980. He was a wealth of floatplane knowledge and an excellent mechanic. When he got thru flying up in Alaska; he gave me his tool kit that was 90 percent "Snap On" stuff.
He told me many stories of the early days of " bush flying"
What a great fella and tremendous pilot!20180914_112529.jpg
