Photo/Measurement Request: C180/185 Extended Baggage Eyelet Nutplate Locations

Anyone with factory extended baggage in their C180/185? I was wondering if you could take a couple of measurements for me (closeup photo would be a bonus). At the station 108 and 140 bulkheads there are nutplates riveted to the bulkhead web (total of four) that are for threaded eyelets to screw in to in order to attach a cargo net. I wish to duplicate the factory installation, so I need measurements for the height above the baggage shelf and distance from the inboard or outboard bulkhead flange.

I’ll take a look in the morning.

Jeff, once you get this installation done, it would be great if you’d post pictures of it. I’d bet I’m not the only other one thinking about a cargo net who doesn’t want to spend what they appear to cost.

Will do StuBob. Thanks bfd777. Just need to get the height above the shelf (vertical measurement). If too close, I bet shelf would hit eyelets when you try to remove it.

You do have to distort the forward section of the shelf to get it out.

The eye is 13/16 above the shelf. On the level it's 1-1/4" outboard of the bulkhead opening. Up top the bulkhead gusset has a threaded insert in the visible hole, as does the gusset aft of the second window, where my back seat shoulder harness is attached.

Once I release the baggage floor fasteners I lift the back edge first and slide it aft to clear the eye bolt. You can bend it from the center, too, but lifting from the back is simple.
