Another great event as always!! The only issue that stood out for me was the line was placed just a bit too far forward this year (double DQ on landing).

Hey all.. Sorry to absent for a while but I have still been lurking around in the shadows, I gotta say that I was lucky enough to have Isaac come to me and allow me to work through his desires and wants with a New bird. I had a hand in his previous M7 Maule and together we figured out the updates he wanted and I was able to sit down with the Factory and they came through with a plane built to our spec. There are a few things that were added modifications like the Carbon Floorboards and wingtips from Randy @ Carbon concepts. But the biggest thing was just an honest diet of non essential items as well as trimming the fat on the essentials like seats, kick panels, and anything else that we could. Still more to do but a great start and the next one will be that much better

    Kestrel, really?

I flew through the pass 29 mins after this soul perished and reported receiving an ELT signal to Juneau FSS.

I made 3 passes thru the area to home in to the signal. At that time I did not know the outcome.

Not funny, whitty, or appropriate sir!

    Sorry, I misinterpreted your post.

I saw that you posted the link to the article about the fatal crash that has a photo of the airplane crumpled at the impact zone followed by your comment "...that was a short landing...".

What was your intent with the post Kestrel? I need it explained to me, please.

Internet communication can be difficult sometimes. I think this is one of them. I had followed Mike's link to that post and the complete lack of a track made quite an impression on me, esp. since that happened to be the first time I had heard or seen anything about this tragic event. The frowny face was intended to convey my feelings of "a very bad day".

...and I thank you for taking the time to do some locating. If it were me or anyone I am connected to (for example, my wife also flies) I would hope that someone would be in the area to do the same.

thank you. to me it seemed a flippant remark in the light of the thread topic (Valdez STOL comp) and also considering what Bretts family are going through today and the rest of their days.

No disrespect was intended. Though the words may have been a little "light", the intended message was not. My wife and I often use an app called Glympse to keep track of each other when flying. It always makes me feel better when I not only see her land, but taxi off the landing area. We have the advantage of cell coverage most of the time. In no way can I claim to understand what Brett's family and friends are going through, but I do understand the issue. ...and that picture is still getting to me.

    Fair skies...

Student pilots must have an endorsement for a cross country flight from an instructor.
