Can any one provide us with maximum takeoff weight for this aircraft please.

Maximum weight 1474 lbs. STC SA159CE

This doesn't sound like very much Ron. For your information a set of floats with 1800 lbs of buoyancy can be legally loaded to 2000 lbs. Of course this would be when no one is looking.

If this plane was on EDO 2000 the maximum weight would be 1760 lbs. The only difference appears to be that PK made no effort to approve their floats at the higher weight which would be allowed on the Type Certificate. http://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgMakeModel.nsf/0/ab203ab0e89895af862572090071f7cd/$FILE/1A2.pdf

Ron,
Cool your in Wanaka as we lived there for years! Back when Hunter Cres was just part of Burdons farm.
Not sure about Petes figures but from memory I thought
The data tags showed only 1735lbs???for floatation?? The 1800 on the tag was just
A model number. Having flown them on a non electrical PA 18/95hp, they worked fantastic on it!(925lb Cub) However having also flown 1800s on both 7GC and 7GCBC Champion aircraft, with 0290/0320 engines 1100/1200lb aircraft;they were both pretty UNDER
Floated; and basically dangerous with full fuel and 2 people in more than 10kt crosswind. If you didnt hold stick
All way back SLOW taxing light alone, they will take water right over the tops of the floats! Not so with Continental (170lb)
powered Cub, however you have 240lb engine???
I really thought PK 1800 are really almost the same as 1650 Edos in how they float an airplane.Work fine light
But I much prefered 2000s with full fuel and passenger
For getting up on step and taxing crosswind in more than 10kts. I would say great on 900lb plane. Ok on 1000lb. Tooo small on 1100lb plane except for private flying. They
Are very light weight at 195lb so about 75/80s lighter than
2000 Edos. Good luck and hope you Cub is light!
If one stuck to the 1474 maximum weight on the STC you would never have a problem................in the case of 1200lb Cub on floats thats a 200lb pilot n 10gals of gas??? Really.
