CC Lsa Continental powered ignition?
Yesterday a fellow .orger came to visit with his Continental powered CC. When it came time to leave the battery was too weak to turn the engine through more than one compression at a time. So I volunteered to hand prop it. It would not even pop on one cylinder and I could not hear any impulse couplings snap. Fortunately he had an Earth-X jump pack in his emergency bag. We used it to start the engine.
Now two questions:
The engine didn't turn over as well as it should have with the Earth-X which was fully charged. What does this engine have for a starter? This one seemed to have too high an amperage draw for one of the new type of light starters.
What does this engine have for an ignition system? I'm suspecting something other than an impulse for starting purposes. We tried hitting the starter switch while pulling the prop through compression with no effect. The thinking behind this move was that there may be a retarded ignition only when the starter switch is engaged.
