    J3-cub.com forums--Supporting members only?

    Hi Everyone,

I used to like to read the forums over at j3-cub.com. I am registered there, but not a supporting member. For years I was able to read most of the forums. For the last few months each thread takes me to "become a supporting member page." Does that site now require you to pay to view the forums? I asked at the "contact us" form there a few weeks ago, but got no response.

I thought I'd register and ask here since there is some cross-talk between the forums. Is this the new policy at j3-cub.com or am I missing something?

    Thanks,
    Brix

If you enjoy using that forum and visit often, you might consider supporting them.

No. You can even post. You may have to enter a password, but no bucks required. The bucks do support the forum, but as here, they are voluntary.

Hi Clyde, Good point. I'd like to contribute and hope to someday. It's not in the budget right now for me. I'm not sure that would solve my problem.

Thanks Bob! I'm not sure why I can't see the forum anymore. I tried from a few computers and registered a new account, but no luck.

I just tried it out and had the same issue. After I sent them the $19.99, I could read everything.

I know I could read the forum a couple months ago without being registered. Nevertheless, the amount seemed worth it to me.

    Thanks Vic,

Now I know it's not just me and that supporting would open up the forums to me. I agree, it's worth the $19.99.

J3-Cub.com was sold by Will Ware a number of years ago to Groupbuilder.com, a company that specializes in monetizing web communities - mostly forums. They have lots of web properties (they are hosted on AWS) J3-cub being one of the smaller ones. Interestingly, rother.com - a cannabis VC firm appears to be located at their same address in Texas...

Here is some info from the Way Back machine on some of their interest areas / properties. They don't show this stuff anymore

Notice went out last fall that vendor ads were down, and participant support was needed.
