    Log Cabin ski fly-in 2/11/2018

Doug and Judie have been preparing and the fly-in is ON---Unfortunately ---it will be a "celebration of life" for Doug at 11 A.M. Staff Sgt. Doug Ward---- Ball Turret Gunner WWII---(B-17)---Born 10 May 1923---gone West !/25/2018------As of right now there is plenty of snow---a bit crusty---Pilots discretion !!!! ---fly safe---There are MANY folks that will miss this fine friend---so many times I dropped in for a visit, finding Doug and Judie relaxing on the porch in the sun ---Always pleasant conversation. Anyone interested---Judie put together a nice book on Doug's life (Turret Tales) ---see you at Log Cabin---geezer Dan

Steve: Thank You for your computer skills --- geezer Dan

Incoming flyers----be sure to read S2D's thread --"snow landings" and KNOW your airplane---AND your abilities---as my old instructor said " if it doesn't feel right --don't do it"---I will try to get a current update on conditions as the time nears......

SJ, thanks so much for posting this. Doug was a terrific fellow who loved life and loved aviation, and will be sorely missed. He simply made a difference, something that we should all strive to do.

Just received a field condition report from Judie at Log Cabin --

There is between 5"-12" of snow in good condition, crusty in some spots. Accordingly, this is deemed a SKI ONLY EVENT. No wheels, not even the big ones .

Great day for Doug. The Corsair and Mustang flyby was awesome. The Howard was drug kicking and screaming from the hangar in KRNH but made it.

I'm glad I didn't wimp out due to the cold.
