we had a good amount of wind a few days ago, 60mph+ , and I keep my pa12 at my cabin so before the winds hit I tied it down good and even cut down any tree's that could hit it if they blew over. unfortunately I still got some damage, a few shingles blew off the roof of my cabin and of course they hit the plane. one hit the left wing about 3 ribs in from the tip, there's a small hole in the fabric but the finishing tape over the stitching took the most damage as you can see. how would you all recommend going about fixing this? logs say its covered in ceconite.

Well the snow has melted enough I can finally see the tops of my floats, another 2 weeks and hopefully the ice will be out of the lakes so that means its time to get the 12 ready. I'm getting ready to order everything to fix this damage, first of all they don't give away Ranthane that's for sure! one question I have that the ceconite manual didn't make clear to me was where my finishing tape got tore away do I remove the whole strip and replace it all. or just cut whats lose off, leave whats still attached and butt the new tape up to the existing. I don't want to replace it all because I have a blue leading edge which is more money in paint, another color to spray, and I don't even know the exact color it is. chances are if I do have to mess with the blue the repair will get painted white and I'll call it an accent stripe.

I'd overlap the new tape fore and aft. I don't have the manual here in front of me, but I think they give a distance?

they don't mention anything for the finishing tape specifically, but for a less then 8 inch hole only a 1 inch overlap on the patch with no need for finishing tape, and a greater then 8 inch hole requires 2 inches of overlap with the use of finishing tape on the seam. so I guess if I put 2 inches of overlap fore and aft I should be good.

Follow manual and also reference AC43.13 fabric repair procedure section to make sure you can reference proper technique

Yep, I'd say you'd be giving yourself a little extra cushion...not a bad thing.
