Any truth to the word that DOT is selling Birchwood to Eklutna Native Corporation?

I just saw this on one of my FB friends feed... first I had heard of it..

To all of the Birchwood Airport people that don't know yet, Eklutna Inc. is attempting to buy or possibly swap land for Birchwood Airport. I heard rumor of it yesterday and called the DOT leasing person to find out. Initially they scoffed at the idea and said there was no way that would be happening that they wouldn't know about it , but they would ask. A bit later they called back and said they found that there had been meetings at higher levels with just that topic, but there was no reason to be concerned as there was a lot of process for them to go thru. Really!
I know that Eklutna is trying to develop an aviation housing community on their land just south of the airport and are also trying to develop that whole area into a huge industrial complex. They have heavy influence over a good number of our politicians and have a history of trying to back door things like this. This stinks heavily of that. If they get private control of a state airport you can bet that it will not bode well for the individuals that have planes and hangars there. The Birchwood Airport Association is having an informational meeting at the Birchwood CAP hangar on Sat at 4 PM. It would be a good one to attend and I would hope that someone from DOT and Eklutna would be there.

Meeting on this subject, 4pm Saturday, Birchwood Airport Association. I hope this sale thing dies on the vine

I also wonder what the casino they have talked about building on the lot next tracks has to do with it. I head they had made progress on that land deal.

I was told they wanted to build an airpark subdivision on the south end and were trying to do a land swap to gain through access to it. Or at least buy someone lease on that end.

How awesome would a half million dollar hangar home be right next to a very busy airport, law enforcement shooting range, public shooting range, and train tracks. I live up by the highway and people ask how close the shooting range is.

They state needs to sell more assets to fund the waste!

Thanks for all the replies. Sorry for not posting this on the classifieds. I guess you could buy a sticker...”I love airplane, gun, and train horns”
