    Bushwhacker Aircraft

Does anyone know if Bushwhacker Aircraft is still offering a PA-18 fuselage tube kit?

Don't know, but I have been trying to reach them by email and phone and haven't gotten hold of anyone for over a week. I have a tack-welded fuselage and am interested in some fittings. Are they still in business?

I communicated with Chris Hatin recently, seemed as though he has his hands full with something else at the moment. I stopped by the VR3 stand at OSH, and they seem to have drawings and parts listing for a Super Cub tubing kit. Haven't followed up yet,

I spoke with vr3 on Thursday and they are very helpful. It's the nicest looking fuselage kit I've found so far. The fact that the tubes are pre coped is very attractive to me. Should save me a lot of time.

Starts at $4200 for just the fuselage. The entire kit was $6800 if you buy the entire kit. Shipping costs are very reasonable.

whats a fully welded fuselage cost from others? that seems like allot... unless your time is worth nothing ... definitely won't come out as a good deal, if you have to pay someone to weld it and ALL THE LITTLE PIECES on it....

Do you have a source that offers the same product for less?
A fully welded kit will cost me upwards of $15k.

    If someone was really setup to weld, then 100 hours @ $100/hr = $10,000 plus $4,200 = $14,200.

If an amateur builder is not to concerned about time and can weld, the tubing kit seems like a good start to me. My guess is there is $2000 of steel tube, so $2200 to have it precisely cut is a good deal?

Yes it will, but I'm very much looking forward to that.
I'm very excited that I finally decided to do this.

Thanks, was looking for best prices on fuselage fittings, and his were good. Need some for a tack welded fuselage. Will look elsewhere. Appreciate the info, Reid

Chris is doing some engine work for me but he found being an expert witness is far more lucrative than aviation. And lately he's been swamped.
    What's a go-around?
