Tail suspension T3 system VS Air Shock

    Hi
I wonder what is the main difference from the T3 suspension system VS the other plane with a full air shock system ? Like the : ShockCub, Just aircraft SuperStol, savage aero/Zlin.. All theses have a more longer stroke on their oleo and quite a bigger size tubing too, like 2in dia. The load is also quite more spread around different mounting point vs the T3 setup.

I do understand the T3 might have a less deflection vs a air shock like Fox or so.. But if any hint or what main difference/ better..

    Thanks

The primary difference is the T3 is a bolt-on assembly with all external parts. No airframe modifications are required. The TK-1 swingarm version that Backcountry uses (similar in concept to the Shock) has the shock mounted internally, requires structural mods, and has more moving parts. Which is better? I have a TK-1 swingarm and a T3 assembly on hand. At the moment I'm favoring a Pawnee leaf spring.

Love my T3, I would never go back to a leaf spring

It would be like going back to wooden wheels. T3

Anyone know the weight of the T3 setup for supercub, complete weight?
Any weight savings from stock tailspring setup?
    Thanks

I was taxing over a rough spot on my taxiway and had to laugh when I didn't get the usual stick and tail bounce. It's great.

Here's the typical single shock Supercub model. They also make a dual shock version for heavier tails. You can see the TK-1 swingarm suspension on the new Yellow and Black Rev 2 in another current thread.

They have developed modifications to help with the steering chains/spring angle. The T3 in the picture does not have the modifications.

T3 is like riding in a Spanish Cadillac with airshocks...smooth. Only draw back is that is 3" taller decreasing overall angle of attack but it sure is smooth

But it will give you that 3" back if you need to over rotate

Has anybody gotten a field approval for the T3 Tailwheel yet - just curious.
