Catto Props

GONE WEST
Valdez, Alaska
Thought I would start a thread on the Catto Prop.

What at are people using? What engine? Performance need? Performance outcome?

Mine: Exp PA12 cub. Standard Wing, sub 1100 lb cub, 0-320 wide deck, 10:1 pistons, running a 84x37 Catto prop.
2375 Static, 2700 WOT. I break ground usually before 2200.... I am at sea level...Valdez.

performance is good...but wonder if take-off could be better.

just wondering what everyone else with these props are doing...

Ron

Hey Ron, What Kind of cruise speed are you getting at what rpm with that setup? And have you ever flown that airplane with a Borer prop? If so what pitch how did it compare?

Never flown it with a Borer. I cruise at 85, 2350. I am happy with the prop... just wondering what other get...wonder how a 84x36, or a 84x35 would perform.

i had an exp pa-12, built 2. The first one had an 0320e2d with 9.5/1 custom exhaust. it was a smith cub 12 with extended wings but with the 84/37 catto i got 2375-2400 static over 3000 WOT and cruise at 2475 was about 94-95mph on floats at 3000'. the second 12 had an 0360 almost identical air frame and with the catto 86/38 did 96-97mph on the same floats.at 2475rpm, it had 9.5-1's one emag and a sutton exhaust and would also pull over 3k WOT.
