Step Corrosion, Powder Coat?

Has anyone else seen corrosion like this on the long step? 3-4 years old, right side, does get exhaust fumes from Sutton exhaust.

Not surprising. There are a lot of corrosive acids in the exhaust.

I agree the exhaust is corrosive but shouldn't the paint shield the metal. I bet it has to do with poor prep before powder coat----kind of like filiform corrosion

I would strip the step and hard anodize black. You can paint over anodize if you want.
