I've been looking at making a front cover, there is a heat shroud and ducting into the front.I did see a pic of two StarDusters on ski's and looks like it's doable. Glen, that's a great pic! Stop by when you passing by.
I really don't like wearing synthetic cloths when flying but they are warm. I guess it's a old hold over from Army Helicopters.

Thanks Kurt! The thing is a hoot. Its home in the hangar now taking off the tires and making it mine. I was doing pretty well with the new girl until Brad and Mark showed up with a pack of CCs, and that orange FX3 jezebel. She sure is a headturner. Glenn and I had the 3 way swap all figured out, where I got the FX3, he got my new Carbon Cub, and Mark took his sport cub home. Simple, until Brenda and Judy came into the shooting shack office with pails of water, and the deal was off
We had a super weekend with friends shooting pheasants over Glenns excellent dogs, flying cubs, eating and BS. No finer folks in New England that Glenn and Judy Symon. Was a highlight to have Mark and Brad and company show up with the gang complete with 4 CC and the FX3, especially nice to meet Brad Damm and get up to speed with the company, and whats going on. Also fun to catch up with JimD, Joe, Pete. Glenn G flew and hour and a half to eat breakfast with us, Thanks!
And thanks for the well wishes on the Carbon Cub, it sure is a dream come true for me, a real joy to fly.

    Jim,

Oh Jim, I KNOW about that FX3!

Brad stopped by and we met him a bit south of us in Ft. Wayne. We were running out of time so I was the only one who got to fly it even though there were 3 of us in our Husky's and another buddy in a Sedan who showed up. Can't complain, at least they to see it and lucky me got to fly it! WOW WOW WOW! Nice airplane! Im not going to restate the flying specifics since they have pretty much been posted here. I will say that I was super impressed with what CC and the gang have done. There are so many neat things that are incorporated into this airplane.

Brad sure did have a long day, he left NY and made a detour to Ft. Wayne area so I could fly it, THANK YOU Brad! After I flew the airplane he then topped the tanks off and then continued on to St. Louis. Much appreciated Brad. My 45 minute flight back home in the Husky was incredible, it was silky smooth and the sun had just gone down, the full moon had just come up, it was beautiful. What a way to end the day.

This airplane must be flown to appreciate what those of us who have flown it are trying to convey, its a darn good airplane!

We are glad it all worked out. We were able to get that orange in front of a lot of people and many did get to fly it also. We will hope to have it back East again maybe in late Spring or maybe early summer. Until then, tell the world you flew the FX3.

And not sure anyone wants to see the paperweights in that second photo. Whoever that guy is needs to unshackle the leaving-the-county ankle bracelet he must wear. There's a whole country west of Maine.

For the third time this week Im sitting in front of my computer with 29"ABW's and new 40-75D's in the cart and a severely itchy trigger finger. Any NE Cub Types want to make an offer of leading me into the abyss of exploring off airport landing spots. Just might turn the itch into a push of the finger.

Do it! although, snow soon so you may want some skis, or wait until spring.

Im flying a Maule M6, so I'm thinking less sidewall flex on sideslopes. Also bringing the top of the plane awfully close to the bottom of my hangar door Prop just clears now on GY 26" when clocked at 12 and 6

They now sell props that can go 3 and 9 or 10 and 2

Unless you drive it out like I do?

True that. The Spud Squadron, over the skys of the Mighty Wassokeag, Smoke on From Red Leader, er, now Orange Leader and his trusted sidekicks--Grommet and Border Therapy.....

I do think it should be known that you are a valued visiting member of the Spud Squadron--and the loudest in the I'm tuff no muff PA-11. And very gracious when I spill beer on you.

3" of snow on the ground. Ski season is nigh upon us! More forecast for next week.

We are already planning the pyro display for the next Fairgrounds Spud Gathering. BYOC--bring your own cannon. Like Ellery.
