Hahahahhah! So now we know. Bob, Roger asked us if we knew you and none of us recognized the name.
John landed as you were departing.
    Glad you made it up.

The Grafton bushog has been down, I trailered down a real mower and mowed for him earlier this week. The grass was so high in the middle I had been landing long up by the house. I scalped it so tight he's complaining that he needs more braking now. He is serious about blasting some rock and straightening things out a little.
    What's a go-around?

I had to look it up, first I put in in NY72, which is a cool looking little aerdrome out by Syracuse and I thought wow good thing he's got a Maule because that's a 3.5 hour trip for me.
Then I realized it was N72, Warwick Municipal, which is another cool airport but still three hours for me!

    Good on you for traveling!

Jim doesn't stay current so he uses an ultralight (Kolb). If I stay real current, I can deal with my 650lb 110sq.ft. Capella two seater.(80hp 912 Rotax) But I walked it and flew in with a Flightstar ultralight for years before bringing in an LSA.

As it turns out NY72 is the purple Fleet that I rode in at Rhinebeck.

Friday before dark I flew North to meet up with Jeff and Joe at the cabin by Swanson's dam.

We had a great dinner including some off Jeff's moose he got in Ak last fall, we might have bullsh!ted and drank too much by the fire.

Next morning we headed east for breakfast

We got lessons from Joe on proper sailing form

    Zoom in

The Corporation I flew for before I recently retired had to send a contract bid to UPS years ago. The executive assistant sent it by, you guessed it, FedEx!! Apparently the driver parked right in front of main door, and was laughing so hard he could hardly talk. The package was returned to sender.........

Reminds me of a story John Meade recently shared, about UPS delivering to a new office of Fedex exec's...

Beware crane guys taking photos. You never know when you'll be spotted, and shared around as "Bob the Maule Guy". Might have to change your screen name. Lol!
Stop up sometime, I'm sure Timmy will treat you to lunch, since he didn't have to spend it on Eaton. (Actually he'll take you to Mt. Bob's, the burgers are cooked there 24/7)

Northeast guys that have or may want to stop in at Stuart & John's restaurant, (and Roger & Ellie Adams farm, "Windyhurst"), I want to throw something out to you.

Roger has been such a great host that he bugged the power company daily until they took down the power line that crossed our landing area. Anytime he gets wind of one of us coming to visit he comes out to great us, thank us for coming, and talk about who we are and where we flew from. His granddaughter Alisha says he gets as excited as little kid when we fly in. As soon as the power line came down he went online and ordered a windsock for the telephone pole, not knowing about different sizes, and so now Ellie and the neighbors chide him about his small windsock and ask him if it's only for "small airplanes". lol

John Meade has generously offered to supply a windsock (I believe), but we need an 18" frame to mount up. If someone has one unused that would be great, or if a couple of us can chip in we could order a good one and I'm sure Roger would take care of mounting it up on the pole. Touch base with me if you've got an idea on this. Who knows, we might find him leveling out his field for us next summer.

If you like background info, Roger's been around the farm for awhile, I believe since 1951.

So much for being Incogneto! Who would have thought the crane guy to be a Supercub.org regular and have a Sweet Carbon Cub hiding back home. Thanks for the invite, would be good to stop up sometime, although not exactly sure where you are small world..

Ouch. Not wanting to rub salt in an open wound, but in light of the many threads on tying down aircraft, do you have information about how this plane was tied down? Direction of wind in relation to aircraft, etc?

    Not my plane.
Katama airport is open to the Atlantic. If you look closely at the first picture in the series you will see the surf in the distance.
The plane was facing into the wind.
The left-wing tiedown pulled from the ground. A single half cinder block sunk in two feet of sand is all the rope was attached to.

Only if you didn't want us to show.

    North East Fun 2017

Had a beautiful morning trip over to the farm for breakfast and on the way back took the opportunity to meet Jim Wilson in Grafton.
What a super nice guy he is, and with a fabulous spot the hillside.

Sadly like many strip owners, he has neighbor issues big enough that we would be detrimental to stopping in to say hi, so best just to wave.
Which is really sad, seeing how are he is such a nice guy who obviously has a passion and high interest level for aeronautical endeavors.

Yeah Roger is encouraging it so might as well. He was out feeding the cows and had to stop and come visit, and thank me like 4 times for stopping in.
