Got to be a good feeling to get the planes back in the water. Wish I could have gotten a chance to take the day so I could get in the way.

    North East Fun 2017

Between work and weather, the last couple weeks have been rough. I thought memorial day weekend I was going to be bad, but it turned out everybody waited for this weekend.
Couldn't make the Klinekill breakfast but was able to wrap up about noon and shoot over to Ossipee Lake to help my ailing dad get his dock in the water.

Happened to look out the window as I was passing ludlow and saw one of the private strips that Charlie had mentioned.
Runway was half full of cars, must've been a party.

I wanted to test out the wind generator I've been working on, so it was a good shakedown cruise to find out if it really worked. Turns out it seems perfect.

Landed at Windsock Village/Soaring Heights Airpark, and got the chance to meet David. He's a super nice guy with a great home and hanger at the northeast corner of the strip. He's looking for a Citabria or Decathlon and a set of skis.

After freezing my butt off in the water I headed home over the new racetrack. It looks REALLY nice and fun with the elevation changes.

Summer sky was showing some coolness too.

Lots of inviting places in NH...
...some are airstrips....and some just look that way until you get closer.

The northeast green will always be beautiful.

In your first picture of Smith's field, right off your jury strut is the other runway I spoke of.
That race track is in Tamworth, it has been a very long time in coming due to many legal hassles but might be worth the wait for those of us that play on road courses.

Oh yea, there it is. Didn't see the other strip until you said where to look.

And yes I agree on the Club Motorsports track. For a number of years I thought it was a pipe dream and the town folk would kill it, or simply run them out of money. Then I thought it was just a hole in the ground for investors, since they could claim bankruptcy and eliminate debt before continuing on.
And while I still think the fee structure is astronomical, I'm glad to see it's come to life. I'd take a day on the track anytime.

My wife and my first trip to the land of the midnight sun. We are up here to visit with our dear friends Stu ( reliableflier ) on here and his wife Betsy in Seldovia for the solstice festival. Stu gave us the gift of the hour and a half Beaver ride around Denali. We were scheduled to go today and some weather was moving in so we stopped at Takeetna Airtaxi about 3 yesterday and asked if the was a opening for last evening. Some thunderstorms were threatening but with ominous looking clouds and virga all around we left with Trent on the 6:30 flight. With low ceilings in the valley we headed for Denali park. As we got closer the sky opened up revealing the whole park in all it glory. It was unreal how calm it was as we turned and explored each new pass just missing the rocks all around us. Most of you who have flown along side me know how I like to explore when in the mountains. Trent flew this flight exactly as I would have, I knew before he turned where he was going and was happy just sitting right seat as a sightseer. Trent said maybe 10 times all summer it's that nice. Thank you Stu for an unforgettable magical day

    Looks like a rough neighborhood

Talkeetna cemetery has a monument remembering those who died on Denali

So Stu calls and says " hey, on your way out of Talkeetna stop at my friend John and Greta's place and tell them I said hello " so....we head south out of town and go 6 or so miles and turn on a gravel road, after awhile we come to this

So we call Stu and he says " I think that sounds like the right place " " drive in and cross the tracks and before your in range tell me what the buildings look like . So we drive in and tell him what we see and he says , " I'm not sure, go knock on the door " So l knock and no one comes out so I call Stu and he says" knock harder". Out came a neat old gent who lucky for us is John. Neat place with a strip and an Ak style hangar

Nice folks, Stu has them scattered everywhere
