    STOL/Breakfast Sunday 5/21 Basin Harbor (B06)

    Hi Folks;

Basin Harbor and The Red Mill are open for biz for the season 5/12. Just in time for Mother's Day for those looking for something to do then.

    http://www.basinharbor.com/dining/th...ll-restaurant/

I would like to invite all of you and anyone you know with an interest to Basin Harbor (B06) on Sunday 5/21 for a little fun on the grass. We will have a STOL landing competition and 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for the top finishers. Contest will be held from 9-11am.

    Rules for landing:

If you are arriving with a passenger, you will be allowed to land and let passenger out and go make your pass. Also, we will be on CTAF 122.8 so report in your tail# or name.

    1. Main gear tires must land on or beyond the reference line.
    2. Main gear tires touchdown prior to reference line is disqualifying.
    3. Tailwheel tire touchdown prior to reference line is NOT disqualifying.
    4. Aircraft must come to a full stop, straight ahead, and remain until judges have had a chance to measure and clear you from the runway.
    5. Landing distance will be measured from the reference line to the main gear tires once stopped.

Please email back if you like or just show up. We will have the XCub there on display also. Hope you will join us.

I know Tim, I figured that out after the post but really there is always a conflict and since this one is not at the same time every year, I thought it may work. How long to fly from B06 to Hampton? an hour? ish? I think we will press on and whoever shows up, shows up. Cooperstown Breakfast also that day. Just can't win all the time! thanks MK

Throw in a stop at the WAD, Cooper plus some river exploring makes a flight from Basin Harbor to Hampton a full day of flying.
A wedding in Savannah will have me missing the day of flying.

Switching to Sunday would make me a very happy participating man. Just saying

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be
found in all corners of the earth."

Then he made the earth round... and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

I told Mark you would win the spot landing if he changed it to Sunday. Don't make me look foolish buddy

Charlie, plan on going. I know Tim is going so he can land shorter than Sweeney. lol -

I shot some practice landings the other day, but Coach Allen wasn't up and Jim deferred, so I'll have to make it a learning experience.
What Mark didn't say is how many chances we get at bouncing higher and DQ-ing.

UPDATE: Weather favorable and winds mild. Lets make it a great day Sunday. Breakfast is available at Angelies for those hungry, Lunch starts at the Red Mill at 11am I believe. I will be on the field by 9am with radio as the Air Boss and some spotters. Call in 122.8 and we can spot you. 1st landing is the one marked. See rules in previous post. Hope to have many show up. If it goes well maybe an annual event right after Hampton every year. Thank you Mark

I enjoyed this event, it was nice to meet many of the local group from here. Pretty close to 30 planes attended which to me seems a good attendance. 27 might be an actual count but possibly not all the planes were with this event.

Mark put on a great event. Fun was had by all and he drew in folks from quite a region!

I posted a few pics and videos of people there.

Hi Gang, yes I was quite surprised myself with the turnout and very happy about that. Look for as to do more things in both regions going forward. There are many, many who want to fly and just need NO GOOD excuse to go do it. Thank you to all those in attendance and those who competed a special thank you. I look forward to spending more time with everyone. Thank you MK
