All,
I'm a few clicks away from dropping $1100 on new cowling doors from Univair. I can't make myself do it because they just don't seem overly complex to build myself. I have good hardware, all I need is to reskin them. Mine are in good enough shape to use as patterns. The only mildly complex part I can see is the small radius in the front as a opposed to the larger radius in the back. Can this be handled by simply hanging and latching them after building them? Is this enough to form them to the boot cowl and nose bowl or is there some complex mandrill involved?
What am I missing? If they are easy to skin what do you use? 6061? Any advice you can offer is greatly appreciated!
