I went to Surgut on Google Maps and found this picture. I wonder if this could be the new home of the DC-3? Definitely an airport. Looks like lots of oil and gas wells in the area.

Here's a shot of a bigger area. The airport is dead center and just along a river.

So since the aircraft is now essentially cargo being held afloat by the boat, it might make for an interesting maritime salvage claim.

Obviously the front gear is gone and the prop, and maybe the engine? In which case the boat might hold it? Hmmm.

There's gotta be photos of it pushed off the shore. Weight is almost centered _if_ it still has an engine, which based on it's attitude I'd tend to think it does.

It's a Carolina Skiff, which is full foam filled... flat bottom... never know, might have done just fine.

Friend of mine is an AA 767 pilot. Here's a nice closure rate of 1000+ mph enroute to Miami the other day. And probably 1000 vert.

A few years ago the FAA had a major outage near Chicago and no one could fly over Lake Michigan or Ontario enroute to the Northeast. I flew commercial from Colorado back east and there was an aerial freeway as we merged with the traffic coming 'round the corner south of Chicago. For once I stayed awake.
    What's a go-around?

Facebook was a basket of fruit this morning.

Hopefully this link is public. Recovering a DC3 from the ice. Doesn’t appear to be the same as the one I read about before. Replacing the entire nose section... yowza.

I don't have a lot of time but I fell into looking at the pictures part of that story... Glad I took that time.. it made me fall in love with Lydia and appreciate the people who did that work to bring her back to the flying world. Very Cool.

Happened across a group page called Forgotten Transport of America, with quite a few photos of very cool old/new air sleds - Prop driven wingless ski mobiles.

Onboard fire is a scary thing, and something that needs to be dealt with on first notice. No thinking about, just action.

This guy did the right thing and got out in time. Thank god.

I'd agree. And I'd say power was off, but let's not add hydraulic fluid to the fire, unless those are full electric actuators?

    Hell of a photo.

There must be a tremendous amount of seed money available out there.

Seems though now everybody’s a personal drone manufacturer.
