    Wounded Warrior Flyer.jpg

    ALSO
IMPORTANT NEWS for those that want to participate
We have a new opportunity to generate some extra funds for our Wounded Warriors this year as Gaston’s is going to run a “Sponsor a Wounded Warrior Poker Run Airplane Campaign” to local businesses,

    it works like this:
Gaston’s will run a “Sponsor a Wounded Warrior Poker Run Airplane Campaign” and offer it to local businesses

I will furnish pictures of the Poker Run Airplanes with pilot/co-pilot and furnish the names of the crew and where the airplane is based

Local business will have the opportunity to choose the Poker Run plane/crew they want to sponsor

The Poker Run participants being loyal supporters of our Wounded Warriors will donate the funds to the Wounded Warrior Pot

For those loyal supporters that want to help with this please send me (mikesas@tds.net) a picture of your airplane with crew and names, and where the plane is based, these will be turned in for the sponsors to choose from. Get the pics coming in ASAP, they will be turned in, in the order received, be sure to smile as I understand the Lady Love Taildragger gals are coming this year and you will be competing against them for a sponsor.

ALSO, some very good news, our auctioneer Greg Smith will be back. We are accepting items for the auction, if you know anybody that would like to donate something for the auction and/or drawings have them contact me at mikesas@tds.net

More details and registration link with t-shirt/hat order form will follow

Mike,, see if Gastons can get some golf carts this year...I might feel the urge to visit Cajun Joe and his crew,, but that urge diminishes suddenly when I see how far down the row of cabins he is... Maybe we can have a golf cart motocross.......

  4. #4
I am looking forward to this! Hope to get in a little trout fishing, as it looks like a beautiful river to fish.

Joe, I hate to start rumors, but I heard Eaton was going to set up his tent next to your cabin so he could use your shower

Joe, I hate to start rumors, but I heard Eaton was going to set up his tent
next to your cabin so he could use your shower

that could be a problem. They threw him out of the pool last year because
    he left a ring

Actually I had planned on camping next to the 2+4 sportsman...... I will have several empty Krylon cans laying around and I will be holding a bucket and ringing a bell.... I am sure my method will strike the inner core nerves of several elite pilots, which will then donate unselfishly for a real paint job.....

Joe,, I had been playing down in Louisiana,,,, and that "ring" finally washed off with that good clean Arkansas water

They are asking for pictures, keep um coming in

I'm hoping we'll be down there the 23rd and 24th. I have to be back for a wedding on the 25th so the weather will have to be perfect - we'll probably just camp, that way if we make it, great, if not, then not too much harm done. Although with as warm as it was last year....

    Mike,

Planning on bringing the whole family and will most likely camp under wing. Do you know if there will be showers available for those of us roughing it in a tent without having to beg Cajun Joe?

    James Smith

    Mike,
I will be late in knowing if I can come this year. Are they going to allow camping under the wing at Gastons this year?

If you've had your shots you can always bath in the pool with Eaton.

    GOOD NEWS
So far I've got 19 pictures turned in but we need 50 or 60. I was asked what if we send a picture in and Gaston's gets someone to sponsor us and we cant make it for some reason what happens. Very good question and to solve that problem the Sponsor's are told not everybody they sponsor will be able to make it "There is no guarantee that the airplane you choose to sponsor will participate in the Poker Run as, weather, mechanical or other problems could prohibit the airplane from participating. The proceeds will be used to support the Wounded Warrior Project"

It's all about just donating to the Wounded Warrior Project, so I need everybody's help, get me a picture standing by your airplane so I can get them turned in.

Registration is open, there is no charge:

  18. #18
I did. I got to thinking about how you're from Oklahoma and all.
    i mean, Texas A&M??

  19. #19
Sarah and Brandon, if you guys would go ahead and send your pictures in since you might make it.

James already has his in and guess what, it's Wilburs old 185 all fixed up, now somebody needs to start working on Wilbur (tell him we need some painting done at Gaston's or something), maybe James will let him fly it - no it might be best just to give him a ride in it, are you willing James if we can get him to show up.

See what I mean Steve, everybody always pickin on you

Randy, I started checking back in the SC.ARRUGH history posts

misunderstood gentleman that I found myself overcome with guilt
and thus have resolved to stand tall in his corner defending Eaton
from the likes o .......... awwwwwww man this is killing me

George, it's spelled Okies, not Oakies. We're not related to oak trees, although certain appendages stand tall like a giant frickin oak..... I guess now that I have had time to ponder on your misspelling, it kinda fits my profile, unlike Tim, whose now shall be known as the Weeping Willow......

    81 Days to Gastons

    Update
Talking with Gerald Garrison, EAA 775 he has informed me they are in the planning stages for the Valley Airport Breakfast, Flippin Airport activities, baggage shuttle and people shuttle at Gastons, also he has set up the Bull Shoals BOAT TOUR for both Thursday and Friday evenings with a burger/bratt cookout afterwards, this year they will have two boats (30 & 10 passenger) available for us. Registration will be first come first serve like last year, send your request with names stating which evening you want to go to mikesas@tds.net and I’ll post the list later on.

Also Gerald said with all the wife’s and kids coming he has talked to the Bull Shoals White River State Park and if there is any interest we are welcome to attend the activities they have at 1:00, 2:00, 4:00 and each night all three days which include: Day Hikes, Night Hike, Primitive Skills Demonstration, Astronomy Program, Dutch Oven cooking, Bird and Wild Flower Walk, Owl Prowl and a Nature related AV Program. Additionally he is trying to line up some Ozark music entertainment before the Saturday night dinner. He mentioned a tour of the Bull Shoals Dam and the Norfork Fish Hatchery is available if there is interest. Let me know your interest and I’ll pass it onto Gerald. mikesas@tds.net

Be sure to bring your fishing pole or you can rent one at Gastons, the fishing is good, check this out:
    http://campaign.r20.constantcontact....Inz-NqOZJ7w%3D

We will be putting on a flour bomb drop and short field takeoff/landing contests/demos at Gastons and Turkey Mountain to help them draw attendance, Dr. Randy is in charge, see him when you get there!

Thanks to CBS for the Wounded Warrior Project PSA during the Super Bowl
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=MVvcM1zEYGg

Gastons has been promoting the Wounded Warrior Project benefit and has been working on donations and items for the auction.

Registration is open - no charge, but for planning purposes we just need to know how many/who's coming. T-shirt and hat order form is at bottom of registration. Get your cabin now as they will fill up Memorial Day weekend, please mention you are with the OK18 Fly-in. http://www.gastons.com/

Camping under the wing is allowed but no fires, vans will be available to go into town for supplies for those that want to cook at their cabins.

Many many thanks to Gastons, EAA 775 and the sponsoring airports, their support is unbelievable
    comments from EAA 775
“this will be our second year supporting the OK18 benefit project. Our entire chapter has taken on the challenge of making this year’s event an even more financially successful fund raiser for the WWP, an ambassadorship for GA and our local airport, and even more fun for everyone involved as a participant or observer. Last year’s work enabled us to make a significant contribution to an exceptionally worthwhile project, breathed new life and a purpose back into our struggling chapter, gave our county airport some much needed positive publicity and gave us all, including flyers from literally all over the country, a great flying oriented event.”

SteveE, the Twin Lakes EAA Chapter 775 has providing shuttle support at and around Gaston's airport on our "to do list" along with a long list of additions & improvements to last year's event. Hope you can make it here. Looking forward to seeing you at Thunder Ridge Ranch (45AR) - last stop on the poker run - & Gaston's. Be sure and get your "bombadier" squared away before you get to my place. I'm thinking you'll get another opportunity to show your stuff.

Randy, I hope you read the rules this year before you drag me into something like this.

Well, I'm probably jinxing myself by even thinking about this trip. At least three of us LadiesLoveTaildraggers are planning on coming, since it's the weekend before the LLT fly-in in TN. I'll be camping under the wing.
