    Fusealage stringers and such

so i am getting ready to cover my PA-18 A fusealage, i cut the flat back off and bought new arched pieces and welded them on and it looks ok
so now I am going to run the side stringers and am wondering why there is a need for the side stringers? is it to keep fabric off the tubes or another reason?

The left side has a steel channel that blends to the wood. This gives you clearance to run the flap cable, pulley, trim, fuel lines, etc. The right side mostly gives clearance around baggage area. I also think the fuselage looks better than say a flat sided like a Kitfox or something.

Yes. Otherwise, it would be a good idea to run zigzag surface tapes over those tubes. I recently added the side pieces to a J-3 because it looked so horrible without them.

super Cubs also have one running down the middle of the belly, and it is such a good idea I do it to J-3s too.

Thank you so much !!! As far as the belly for now I think I'll just put the metal bottom on
but I may cover it later.
