I flew in this highlander two days ago and the performance is impressive. It hangs on super steep like any other slatted bird but the slats go in and out with air pressure, reducing drag above 42 mph like any other wing without slats. The R&D that has gone into this aircraft is astronomical.
After talking to the two owners of Just Aircraft for a few hours, I was extremely impressed with their thoughtfulness and straightforwardness with their various projects. This is a company that was built from the ground up centered around pleasing the customer and giving the ultimate flying experience.
This plane has ridiculous landing gear; there is no other way to put it. After dropping in multiple times from three or four feet, loads that would snap Cub gear or bend longerons or at the very least bounce like all the slatted cubs do when landing, I realized that there was no going back for me because there is absolutely no bounce and it honestly feels like a normal three point landing when done. I never want to fly a plane without some sort of similar gear again.
The side by side seating could take some getting used to but it is as easy to get in as a car.
The bottom line is, this is essentially an 800 pound cub with slats, massive fowler flaps, astounding landing gear, huge amounts of interior room, and a cheap sticker price. What more could anyone want?
This plane is the whole nine yards when it comes to keeping it light and doing it right.

Bobby - what, did they promise you a free airplane?? Just kidding, you are right. A very impressive machine!

Is it available yet----looked at their website but didn't see it.
Looks interesting but I think it's more of a "StorchLander"
"Illegitimis non carborundum"
I think it is available for pre-order but you would have to call to find out. Justaircraft.com
I remember talking to Troy 6+ years ago about an all metal wing on the Highlander. So this isn't a quickie overnight thing, at the time it put me off as I didn't want to wait through all that R&D time, so I bought my second Rans S-7 instead. Since then I have watched the progression of the design, and can't wait to see the new wing. Cruise speeds and low speed manuvering, not just stabilized approaches, will be interesting to see, for sure lots of room inside! 800 lbs, while light by cub standards I suppose, is not exactly light for a 912S Rotax bird, just saying. Always a price to pay for more performance and the weight is the price here, sure looks good though. The big thing that some may not know is that I believe this wing is still a folder, as in quickly trailerable.
