Too hot? Well not over 100 but constant in the 90s these last few days. This would be no problem except about 50 percent of West Virginia power customers were without power including me. My outage lasted from Friday evening to this afternoon Monday. It was the weirdest weather system to watch on radar approaching my area in a north south straight line moving east at high speed. That line of weather lasted only about 20 minutes passing through but that was enough to do its damage. No one around here can remember being out of power this wide spread and this long ever. Many are still out. Because of the outage time, Lowes and Home Depot brought in truck loads of generators. Folks were lining up buying them. Look for good deals later on ebay!

Seeing salmon jumping out front in the salt.

We are camped at Garden Valley right by the airstrip and the Payette river. We spent last night at Smiley Creek lodge. When I walked outside this morning there was frost on the car. THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT! Tomorrow we're headed for McCall. Idaho is spectacular. I can't wait to bring the Supercub up here.

And... I see by todays USA TODAY, the low temp of the US last night (lower 48 or all 50, don't know) was Stanley Idaho, clocking in at a low of 30 degrees.
About 10 years ago my older brother, who's lived in Fairbanks for about 30 years now, sent me a real estate ad for 80 acres outside of Stanley. He indicated they were thinking about moving someplace warmer and was thinking Stanley was in the bananna belt or something. I told him to just stay in Fairbanks.

With winds gusting to 25, a spark would be all it would take to get real ugly. Looks like red flag weather.

I just got my twice monthly OSHA "quick takes" e-newsletter. Here is the lead: "DURING HEAT WAVE, OSHA CALLS FOR WATER. REST. SHADE." Thank you OSHA, I was wondering.....

Big fire 30 miles South of me has now burned 255,000 acres over 20 homes some cattle to many Barns and out buildings to mention and thousands of miles of fence. Bet I'm busy with the cub looking for cows when they lift the TFR.
