Very Special Guest to attend this year's Iola lunch flyout

    This just in.....

The Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board, the honorable Deborah Hersman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nationa...n_Safety_Board), will be attending our Iola lunch Fly Out this year. After her "meet the Chairman" forum at Oshkosh on Thursday the plan is to arrive in Iola by 11:00am to watch the planes arrive and sit down to lunch with us. She is looking forward to meeting and speaking with as many pilots as possible.

Before any of you conjure up arriving to a ramp check, let me assure you, only the FAA is authorized to conduct a ramp check.....this is the NTSB boys, they are on OUR side! Bring your questions and concerns...this is your chance to be heard.

Speaking of the Iola Fly Out (again) this year....those who went last year will tell you that the food and ambience are not to be missed. I feel very fortunate to once again have Bill Kinsman, and the Central County Flyers, make an exception and host the event. They do lunch EVERY Friday EXCEPT during Oshkosh week.

Look for a survey soon on attending our NH Fly Outs this year. Hope to see you there.

    I beg to differ.

Boy, Steve you got that right. These are the folks who are constantly leaning oon the FAA to implement new regulations.

But, if she'll listen......can't do any harm.

    Will there be baked chicken?

There will not be baked chicken.....we are doing steak grilled to order. Also, to avoid any confusion, Iola is on Friday, not Thursday. Thursday is the Washington Island Fly Out lunch.

    Good on you Lou,

Familiarity can lead to understanding. Even if they may be the enemy, maybe it can temper some of the BS that they try to blanket on aircraft.

Can the NTSB work any influence on the TSA crap???

TSA will be worse than the FAA for GA in the next five years.

Make sure she understands the way in which these aircraft are operated, I have no problem with them trying to improve the saftey record when it comes to serious injury or death. On the other hand they don't need to mount an investigation everytime someone bends an axle, thats like mounting an investigation everytime someone pops a univeral joint on a serious 4x4 trail. Offairport is like offroad things will get bent.

On a lighter note Debora Hersman has done more for the NTSB's public image then all the crash investigations in the last 30 year
she is easy on the eyes.

Im sure she understands how we operate. She is a licensed pilot and loves aviation. Her motivation to attend is to be a part of grass roots aviation. No better place to see that in action then hanging around us. Let's hope everyone behaves.....

Didn't know she was a pilot her stock when up even higher. Wait if she's a pilot why isn't she in charge of FAA, Oh I know she wants a job where she can get get something done and hopefully make a difference. And Lou you have my permission to take your stun gun and tie up Eaton if he attends.
