    CHT probe location

Just installed (Westach) CHT & EGT thingies. My EGTs run pretty even @ 1400 in cruise & 1500 in normal climb. Happy.

My CHT gauge won't come up over 100* C, and the old spark plug sensor/gauge reads 200-220.
Install: I removed the allen-head plugs out'a the top of the cyl's & installed the hollow plugs for the sensors to screw into. Is this the wrong hole to install 'em? I see (open) threaded holes in the bottom of the head casting, would it make any diff. to install 'em down there? Relation to the head/plug/etc is about the same, but the airflow is down, of course.

Maybe it's the gauge that's foofy. (Mary's term)

The CHT probes go in those open threaded holes in the center bottom of each cylinder head. Try that and see if that helps. The allen head plugs in the top part of the cylinder heads go into the intake ports to be used for things like primer fittings or fuel injectors.

Yep, learned that. Switched to the bottom holes & all is well.
Thanks DP, good one D Dub'ya.
