    Happy Solstice

We'll see 22 hours of functional daylight in Anchorage today. Sunset at 11:42. Tomorrow starts the decline toward winter's darkness. Or maybe that decline starts today. Oh, bother. Enjoy your days!

We have two "longest days of the year" below 23.5 Latitude. The Sun is North of us today.

Yeah 6 months till the end of the world, and the best part about the world ending is that I won't have to give those bastards at the IRS another thin dime.

Not to be be picky or pedantic (as SJ would say) but because of the leap year wasn't the summer solstice (northern hemisphere) at 23:09 UT on Wednesday (yesterday) June 20? That would have been 15:09 (3:09pm) local in Alaska on the 20th.
