"Jungle Pilot" is the book that lead me to MAF. Nate Saint, Jim Elliot and three others were killed by natives they reached after landing on a sand bar in Ecuador....
Long story but their wives continued the work and almost the entire tribe gave their lives to Christ. Steve Saint and his "Grandfather" now tour together giving their testimonies. "Grandfather" is one of the natives who killed his father.
One should ask Grandfather which is better, his life today or his former life killing and being killed. Living in constant fear of both humans and the "gods" of the jungle.
Edit. Let me quote one of Jim Elliot's sayings(a paraphrase of a 17th century preacher's similar quote):
"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose."

Everyone argues about religion, but that is a Susi Air plane and pilot in the video.
Susi Air is a business, not a missions air service or humanitarian aid group.
And Susi (the owner) is muslim.
Admittedly there are three christian-affiliated groups operating Porters there as well.
Of the four strips in the video, three are served by MAF's TU206s.
The Porters just make it a whole lot easier.
