I am rounding off - and maybe not understanding the problem - but I submit that, if the private sector is so great, maybe it should run our airports and air traffic facilities.

Even as a liberal, I gotta tell you, access to airports, field approvals, and even access to FAA officials, cannot get much worse.

Opinion. Happy to drag your thread away from religion and into politics.
Bob- Here in Georgia a private company that operates some of the largest airports in the world was trying to privatize Briscoe Field in Gwennett County. The local residence didn't want it and neither did the Gwennett County Council members. The council would be giving up control, and politicians don't like to do that, and the residence didn't want commercial traffic, which was needed to make the airport profitable. In the end the vote fail. This occurred last week.

Jim... You nailed it! Pimps of disasters. Years ago a friend of mine worked for a radio station in Los Angeles. He made up a story about me saving some old ladies life. Included in the 9:00 AM news. At the time I couldn't believe he would make this story up and put on the news for all of Los Angeles to hear. Freaked me out but he just laughed. Ethics of a used car salesman or plaintiffs lawyer.

"Jungle Pilot" is the book that lead me to MAF. Nate Saint, Jim Elliot and three others were killed by natives they reached after landing on a sand bar in Ecuador....

Long story but their wives continued the work and almost the entire tribe gave their lives to Christ. Steve Saint and his "Grandfather" now tour together giving their testimonies. "Grandfather" is one of the natives who killed his father.

One should ask Grandfather which is better, his life today or his former life killing and being killed. Living in constant fear of both humans and the "gods" of the jungle.

Edit. Let me quote one of Jim Elliot's sayings(a paraphrase of a 17th century preacher's similar quote):

"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose."

Interesting note: Previous to the missionarys coming, the Auca/Woadani indians had no word in there langauge for Grandfather because no one lived to see their grandkids because they were killing each other at such an alarming rate.

Everyone argues about religion, but that is a Susi Air plane and pilot in the video.
Susi Air is a business, not a missions air service or humanitarian aid group.
And Susi (the owner) is muslim.

Admittedly there are three christian-affiliated groups operating Porters there as well.

Of the four strips in the video, three are served by MAF's TU206s.
The Porters just make it a whole lot easier.
