So, I'v had this problem with my KY197 since it was new to me, 123.00 always has the squelch open,not any other channel just this one. Bad circuit in the radio right or adjustment. So I'm finishing up my strob light install and I bumped the dash trim plate and the squelch closes. So I hit it again, and it closes. Then grab the two bars and lift myself up putting alot of weight on the tubes and the squelch closes. Grounding problem right- well not so fast. I made up a ground wire and touched everthing on the planet trying to close the 123.00. Nothing except when I push the trim plate into the tube. I cannot conclude its a ground problem. I've got grounds going everywhere. Anybody have any ideas or maybe it's still the radio. I've never seen anything like it. The airplane is my Jones Super Cub experimental. 450TT SNM.

The signal may be coming from an exterior source or it may be a "glitch" in the radio itself.

Radio signals are very schizophrenic. Remember the old "rabbit ears" days when your dad said "Okay. That's it. Stand right there and don't move!"

Radio is voodoo that's all there is too it, last time mine acted up I wiggled it in the rack like my old CFI always did when we were in the “flying dump truck” and I swear I heard Amelia Earhart responding to the Coast Guard Cutter Itasca... Good luck!

One real question, are things different with the squelch when the intercom is on mine? Mine is.
