Been askin' T'wango for pix of his new digs in Haines for awhile, thought maybe I could tempt (shame?) him into posting something.
"?????????" Yeah, I guess an insider, just hoped he'd bite.
Still trolling here... Hey George!

The place looks nice, not sure if my cub will turn its nose up at having to land on a mowed grass strip![]()

Wow, looks really nice! Good on ya George!!

Thanks Lyn, I think you're a good girl, no matter WHAT George says!

nice looking place, but a great looking toller!!!
Wow!! I had no idea it was so nice. That is awesome!!! Congratulations.
Great pictures Lyn, you have a talent there.
Looks great guys, I am looking forward to seeing it in person sometime.
Bill
Very Blessed.
It is hard to see, but there is a 'Welcome' mat on the steps, and the shop (building to the side) has a 'Man Cave/Pilot's quarters' in it for wandering souls that don't want to be in the house...
Shannon, you will be restricted to staying in the house to honor your artwork!
Presently the strip is 1600', so feel free to drop on in

Hey George thanks for the invite we just might find time this coming year to pop in on you. Maybe I'll find some great scenery up there to paint as well. But you owe me a ride in your plane. I may even get some great pictures to paint more aircraft. Chuck and I would have a blast I'm sure.

Will you do snow removal for winter visitors on wheels? I have nearly flown off my 25 flight test hours and I'm itchin' to go north.
Howard
Remember... It's better to give ulcers than to get them.
Howard,
I will work on getting it packed tomorrow. It was solid, (as in driving our street cars on it) until this last snow, 2 feet today.)
I am home in the evenings here, and sometimes in the mornings, 767-5589, or try my cell (works when I am plowing in town) 723-0435
Will try and post more pictures of the last couple of days of fun!

Here you go George,
I flew by your place after dropping you off:

Strip groomed yesterday, and froze over night.
Acceptable for big tires, and light planes; no turbines unless on skis!
land after turn arounds on either end, as they are not in good shape. Entire strip has some rough areas, but not bad; anticipate medium brake action...
Saturday evening looking at a BBQ rib and Margarita evening. Heaters and covers available for aircraft... give warning so I can have parking plowed out for you!
I don't know where you've been me lad, but I see you won first Prize!
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I must close the airstrip on Sunday January 22nd from 8:45 A.M. until sometime mid-afternoon to aircraft...
Well, you can try and land if you like, but watch out for the snowmachines!!!!!
Drag race starts at 10:00, track opens at 8:00... aircraft will be allowed in prior to beginning of race, and we can pull you out of the way with a tractor...
FYI: conditions of strip are "EXTREAMLY HARD PACKED SNOW, AND VERY SMOOTH" We took the loader on it yesterday and backbladed the entire strip for the race. Expect sleds to reach over 100mph on sunday!!!
so come on over, and if you want we have a room or two for folks spending the night.
George
I don't know where you've been me lad, but I see you won first Prize!
Well, you missed sleds going 94 mph in 660 feet...
This morning I woke to a moose laying down outside my window. It then proceeded to get up, and have breakfast of the ornamental bushes below the window...
Maybe Mary wants a new pet, eh Logan?
Was also thinking I could put a barrel over it's back and call it an armadillo for Laura, but it still had one antler, so would look a little funny.
Will try and get the pics on here.

From the races...
Gert from Alpine Air in Whitehorse is driving the black sled with the skis in the air... his sled is faster than his plane I think!

Weather is beautiful up here, but the darn wolves and coyotes keep outwitting me...
Logan, bring that sled and present of yours up here and lets RIDE!
(if you want to know who the three guys are at the table, check out Bluebird snowboards, and Burton's team page... of course the snowboard folks knew them right away)

Atlin it is!!!!
Lots of rides to do here... been out doing more 'step taxi' work looking for big dogs... My sled gets bouncy after about 50'... may have to reduce the ski pressure if I keep up the water work.

It is a doo!
We worry more about Cats, as they do not like water in any form other than frozen... they tend to get a little splash and just stop in frustration... good thing the water is cold around here because the driver is usually very hot about that time.
Polaris do ok, but they are heavy for it. Window tracks are NOT a good idea either!

Lyn just put this video on our fb page...
http://www.facebook.com/18Meadows
from one of the snow boarders that was around the last month.
our house is at:4:11
The beach shot at 1:00 is downtown Haines...
This clip is shot worldwide, but there are many shots around Haines. If they are not wearing a pack, they are not in Haines. But you will get the idea what the folks hanging out were up to...

I saw Zermatt, CH!

They went all over, I don't know all the places.
I hope to get a class in 'shreder speak' soon so I can comunicate with them... even the guys with long sticks on their feet talk in a bit of a different language.
The big cave/tunnel you see in there actually was a fizzure in the rock that went quite a ways and had snow all the way through. The guys actually boarded completely through it a couple of times, once at night with lights I was told.
so cool (or should I say SICK) stuff those guys did!

George,, that is a beautiful place.. You should be proud!!! Very nice!
Come visit!
I am very glad. Hope to be there full time this fall.

Finally a fly in guest, while I was there
Ok, so I had to fly him in. What do you want from a student pilot?
We should be there full time beginning in November... perfect time for wolf and coyote hunting
I don't know where you've been me lad, but I see you won first Prize!
Here full time.
Woke this morning with a moose in the garden digging up the snow, pushing the plastic aside and eating the seaweed out of the garlic patch
I have asked about 'protection of life and property' prior, but not gotten good permission to remove moose in the way I want.
We took pictures then scared it out to the trees.
This evening he brought a friend to the other end of the field and was having a little sparring match
Lyn shot some vid, but it is dark and not great. Can hear the antlers clacking though...
Jason, I will leave a light on for you! lots of sledding to do, and some plane assembly.
Trapping opens saturday...
