180Marty, all my relatives live in Minden,Iowa area. All farm. I allways heard of Setaside. That is what they called it. I thought they got 150.00/ac. but what you mentioned is probly what they get if participating. The deer down there are so thick, My brother in law was telling me last week they are letting the hunters take as many as they can handle. He has some living in is back yard. The setaside was for attracting animals. Looks like it worked.
There used to be set aside---that was when the gov't paid most farmers to idle 10% of our corn acres because the price was so low and we needed to cut down on the over production. Not everybody has CRP since it is generally the poorer land. The body shop loves our deer population---I've heard that half their business is because of deer. My yields would be higher if the deer and coons were eliminated.I allways heard of Setaside
My brother in law is known for his Coon Hunting. He carrys around a picture in is wallet, he got more Coons in Iowa. Got his pic in paper. Younger kids are allways calling him to go hunting. He sells the hides and every 2 weeks a Black guy comes out to his farm and buys the meat.
