Alot of Hogs feed at night. They have figured out that it is safer. Just like flyfishing, the bigger Brown Trout and other big fish come out at night, where there is pressure. Only once have I come accross hogs on a remote strech of Brazos River during the day. Not that I am looking for them, mostly looking out for them.

Agreed Mark, I have a friend going out at night with his buddies and Gen 3 nightscopes and they are hammerin down, but I have seen quite a few during early morning and evening flights. Wintertime when the leaves are off the trees, early morning is good.

You will like this site Tacticalhogcontrol.com, I been wanting a AR-15 with Gen3 Night vision or thermal scope. A silencer would be nice.

there is a bird from the state north of the semi-big one on the gulf, color red and white, (and has some coyote accents on it) that legend tells all hogs "tremble at the sound of the plane!"

ok, back on the web, we been busting with snow... 10.5 feet in 16 days, turned to rain now, so sanding up a storm...

Got permission to shoot pigs in SJ and Laura's favorite pig spotting field. Huge field where the Brazos and Clear Fork Rivers come together.

I just built a new hog gun. Started with a Colt AR15 lower, a DPMS Panther raised upper (titanium bolt/fireing pin, etc) fluted SS barrel, carbon fiber forearm, collapsible stock. Then for the best part... I mounted an EOtech EXPS3 and a PVS 14 and a ELR Torch-V IR for the night and a 2.5X8 Leopold for the day all on LaRue mounts. I had Springfield do a sweet trigger job.

The PVS14 can detached quickly and head mounted on my helmit. I can't wait to go pig hunting!

Mark I will be at the show probably on Saturday.

Been shootin' the heck out of them for years with a Marlin .308 but prefer an AK in the day so I can throw lots of lead at the big groups. Our ranch in Mötley County, Texas was downright infested with hogs till the drought hit. Now we only kill a few a month vs several every day(and thats not hunting them, just shooting them as we see them doing chores). Major nuisance but lots of fun to shoot! Thanks for the info, didn't know we might actually win something for shooting them.

Mark I will be driving up Friday evening and attending Saturday. I have plenty of hogs on my place too, but I think the drought had an effect on the numbers. Or I may be seeing less right now because I just cut some timber and moved some of them out for a while.

I live on the Brazos River and I get a big ol' hog in my hog trap several times a week, more than I will ever be able to eat. My freezer is full and I end up having to give most of it away. I just saw about 30 or so head just across the river from me today, they sure tore the ground up pretty good over there by the time they moved on. I bait 'em with deer corn soaked in diesel fuel, they seem to love that stuff. Gonna have to take up the hog trap pretty soon, there's just too many of them, and I get tired of having to deal with them so often.

Too bad it dosent blow up when they bite into it... hope Homeland security in their infinite wisdom dosent find out, they will think you are trying to blow up something. Word is if you feed them range meal with high salt content, it swells their brain and they kick over...course, other ways are a lot more fun.

They are bringing good money around here alive. I think they are going to an Asian country.

Desperado Pilot, Clark Osborne at Tactical Hog Control, 936 581 2256. Gets 500.00 a night and all the hogs you can shoot. He might be looking for other places to go . Might be worth a shot.
