I have used thermals a bit but I always find myself fighting hawks for the fun.

Nice one. Yes, I've seen 1500 fpm 'up' ridge soaring dead stick.....with my Mom in the back taking pictures of the prop stopped, oil pressure at zero, etc. PA-11.....Bird Ridge on one of those strong SE days in Turnagain Arm, if any of you local Alaskan's were wondering.
