    Talk about optimism.

120K for a J3 in this economy. Even if it is perfect.

If you add up all the new stuff he's probably invested over $60k in parts and materials. Add another $25k+ for labor. Then throw on $35k for "Grand Champion" coolness and you got $120k.

And that's with a 2002 paint and interior.
    Good thing it isn't new!

OLDCROWE has it right............after all what would you guys do when the wife says to sell your ride...............make her mad and say "no way" or keep peace in the house and tell her you'll try your hardest to make it happen................

Joe Fleeman is a craftsmen and get's around $80000 to do an airplane he did a super cruiser two years ago it was close to $90000 but still a j3 cub 120000 not me

Ha, Joe is a perfectionist beyond all. He got a new PA11 fuselage from Univair and started cutting on it because of things he didn't like about it. He cuts his own tapes on a machine he built because you can't buy tapes with the number of pinks per inch like Piper used. He had a tool and die maker make a dollar patch punch with the same number of pinks Piper used. He made the dies to build the J5 exhaust system identical to the original. He is a master craftsman and if he did it you can bet it is perfect. Not for everyone but if you can afford it why not have the best of the best.

I haven't been to his shop in a few years but try to get over when I visit my folks in Memphis. Always great to visit with Joe and his Dad.

I have seen two airplanes restored by Joe. A Tri Pacer and a Bucker biplane. Amazing attention to detail.

I have no doubt the plane is perfect and worth way more then your average J3 I can see 80-90K for a perfect J3 but 120 k seems like a stretch to me.

I know of a Luscombe that cost way over $100K to build. It is all in the eye of the beholder.

He must have gotten an offer at 120K because the price is now 150K.

Like we used to say at Caterpillar, "The quality remains long after the price is forgotten".
When a prang seems inevitable, endeavor to strike the softest, cheapest object in the vicinity, as slowly and gently as possible.— advice given to RAF pilots during W.W.II.
