You will be damaging powder coat with every rivet anyway... No a big issue. Prime the spots Will it fit then?

Also i thought they DONT field approve otem once an STC is in process?? I would verify

Looked at the plane again a bit ago. The rails have about four spots of welding to take out to remove. I will get into the packet of STC's and such that came with the frame, and talk to my buds at the FAA to see what it will take...

Why do you have to go and build something AFTER I have already gone down the old road??????

so many cool parts, so little aircraft and $$$$

The frame I am doing my test fit in had the welded rails and supports in, 30 min with my dremel multi tool took care of that, was surprised it cut welds that well. test fit the baggage with lid and I am very happy, here are a few shots.

And Yes the frame is in my living room, I don't know why my wife puts up with me but I'm glad she does

    Randy,

Since my PMA'd frame has the extended baggage rails, and the STC paperwork for the frame only says 'if extended baggage used flight manual 1801 (or some number like that), dated ... must be used'; why would I need a different STC for your box?

Asking as a solution to more than one issue I have. Also, is there a reach hole in the top, or can one be added easily to push stuff from the back to the front? AND, can you make them in any other color? Like White?

Will know more on the STC question after our next FAA meeting. Does your STC specify what material was to be used for the floor and sides of the Baggage? A hole can easily be cut in the lid, maybe hinge the lid for the hole or make a fabric cover so the lid can be used as a floor for the upper?(looking at making a rear bulkhead for the topside of the lid) Yes colored gel-coat can be added but it will add about 28 OZ and a little $$.

I will see you and talk to you in Anchorage.....

I will do more looking before; no specifics on size, material or shape of extra baggage in my paperwork.

I took a scale and checked the weight of my aft baggage...

I have an .016 upper baggage floor and aft bulkhead, .o16 sides and aft bulkhead below, and .020 floor in the bottom. I have plastic still on all of the .016, no paint yet. The combined weight was 6.56 lbs. There is still the side rails, nut plates and screws to install, which will bring the entire weight up... but it looks like a good 25% savings in weight with the CF baggage...

Anyone know what the airframes angle for aft baggage total weight is?

STC is not done yet, held up on me now I'm going through a divorce. Jerry Lee in Glennallen installed two under a 337 I belive, let me see if I can get a copy.
