There seem to be times in which members wold be more willing to share information if it were completely anonymous. For instance external loads or unregistered mods.

Is it possible to start a forum for these types of postings. It seems that some of the agencies may be looking to the internet to get the low meaningless fruit rather than tackle the more difficult problems at hand. I would suggest that maybe the listing be monitored in the fashion and good taste that you do. I would think that non productive discussions or just rants to be moved as usual. It may be a great place to talk hypothetically and discuss myths without fear of retribution.

I think some members have Avitars for their Avitars.... or just keep signing up as new people. I've seen a couple times where new members both in join date and number of posts, come out swinging hard. They are just disguising their identity.

Being mostly anonymous already can make people even more uncivilized than they occasionally already are online. And finally, I suppose the gov't can really go to the source when they want to track a bad character, as in law-breaker, or law suit.

Personally, I don't have a horse in this race. No opinion.

Well if the FAA is anything like regular law enforcment, except for "just out of the acamedy" rookies or as sometimes happens an order comes from the "top" to make an example of something that has caused widespread problems, they won't be looking for stupid violations but more for ones we all would agree on as really dangerous. Sometimes that backfires of course as in when some airline cheats some reg until people get hurt. Post a video of buzzing the local grade school and you can bet it will get their attention, and rightfully so. A lot of law enforcment is "tips". I doubt many feds are pouring over these threads for chippy violations. It would be very boring after 10 minutes and attention disorder deficet types are common in LE and you haven't been chewed out until some judge berates you in open court for bringing something petty up in front of him. But if someone from the group points out someone causing danger to the general population then perhaps a fed would start checking out current and previous threads and this information would be used against you in court.

It's all a matter of perspective really, for example, I have a friend that has a Cub that operates regularly MTOW at 5000# Also, I have tested that putting XYZ mod on an experimental plane could impact the following....

Just post pictures without tail numbers or pictures from "twenty" years ago or pictures of your "buddies" cub. Just because a picture is posted of a cub with an external load on the ground does not mean you actually took off with it.

I've been working on planes for 49 years. If you think the faa is your friend and they are "good Ol boys", you need to rethink that position. They are guvment employees, usually PC hires, some don't know the difference between a Cessna 150 and a SuperCub 150. I'm pretty sure, the PMIs are not required to have an AP or AP/AI.
If you don't think they will investigate info found on the web, you need to ask the guy about the picture of the J3 lift strut that he posted on this site. His local FSDO contacted him. He had to explain what was going on.
Here are the three rules I use.
1. I try not to post anything on the net that MAY be considered to be illegal.
2. Any contact with ANY guvment employee is videotaped by me. They are advised of this.
3. Know a good lawyer, the guvment guys don't like contact with a lawyer.
If I have offended any of our faa folks on this site, I apologize, because I'm sure you are all fine upstanding fellows who would never take advantage of your position.
If you trust your guvment, your a damn fool!
