Bill, please send me a screen shot. It really should not look THAT much different from the old one, so I'm not sure what is going on there.

To use smilies, click the "go advanced" button when posting. It as a much more robust interface that lets you upload pictures in line, etc.

Question - Is the "New Posts" function showing all new posts since my last visit?

I like it! Definitely going to take a little getting used to, but it seems like a positive change...

I do software implementations for a living, so SJ, I feel your pain on the ones who are *ahem* resistant......Imagine the hostility I face when I go live with software at a Dr's office and half the staff there can't even use a mouse (and that is way more common than you might thing, even in 2010!).

Keep up the great work SJ!

Ha, everybody on the ShortWingPiper.org site got that message when we switched it over. There were some interesting emails flying to say the least.

Steve could you put a link at the bottom that will take you to the home page like it used to do? Keeps me from having to scroll back to the top to go to the home page.

    NEVERMIND - I see it
I see the drop-down menu . . . it's a little more tedious scrolling to the bottom, but if that's the biggest complaint I have I say resounding success! to Grand Pooba SJ!

Ok, I finally feel like I am making progress. Still a lot to do but hey, it's only Friday!

Think I will take myself out for a walk as a little treat.

The photo and classified systems are upgraded and back operational. I'll be reskinning those to match the forums soon. Member area still needs work.

New chat room installed... live chat again on SuperCub.Org!

    hmmm..

adding an image in a post, is small... will not resize image usefully, see new joke thread 2... i cannot stretch that carton in proportionately it just goes to a weird tall and not long image.....

  13. #53
Well, I'm dumber than a box of rocks when it comes to computers. I figure that any/all of the functions that I will ever make use of will get figured out in time. My only "issue" (I refrain from saying complaint) with the new format is the "coloration" of the recent posts on the front page i.e. the white print on blue/black background is bothersome for my eyes. I did like the old format for colors.

In awe of SJ's great work.

On the Main Page, I miss seeing the total number of post per thread. DID I say that right?

I am working over the weekend on some intro videos to help get folks going. I hope to have some of them on line soon. I have had a LOT of constructive comments. My choices of colors, etc, are what appealed to me, not necessarily what is best for everybody and I am open for constructive criticism. When I hear "it sucks, go back to the old system" (which I have heard a few times) it does not help me identify the areas where folks are struggling. This system is infinitely customizable which is part of its allure, I'd like to work towards making it a palatable as possible for everyone.

I am going to do more tweaking to that home page list. I'm not really happy with it, but it will take a back seat for a while. The database is different than the old one and that is something I custom wrote, so I'll have to see if that piece of info is in that database.

I love it Steve, this is a great package. I don't seem to get logged in automatically every time. I hate deleting cookies, but maybe I need to. Windows 7 and Chrome.
    Gerald

I am also not automatically being logged in, but when I go to the registration page - then it logs me in - Windows 7 and chrome.
I also like the info that was on the main page, total number of posts - latest posts - etc - when you get to it.
    Colors are great!!
    New system is GREAT!

Gerald, I am tweaking some of the settings around this, but one thing for sure if you have an anti-virus package like Norton, etc, that is set to delete cookies automatically, that will kill it. You might try deleting your supercub.org cookie and see if that helps. The "sessions" system used by the new board is far superior to what we were using, but we will have to tweak it here and there.

oh one request I think would be good.... well or I have not figured out yet...

Is there a reason why the 1 day, 7 day, 14 day, and all option is gone in the photo gallery? That was a nice feature, especially when your gone quite a bit and come back to civilization.

Indabush and SJ - I find that even if I am logged in to the Forums, the first time that I go to the Photo Gallery I have to login - look in the upper right hand corner. Click the white "Login" link and login again (this time to the Photo Gallery apparently). After logging in to the Photo Gallery you will see the 7 days 14 days links like before. If you are not logged in to the Photo Gallery then you won't see them. I'm using XP and a Firefox browser - YMMV

    SJ,
    more info....hints....

adding image from a file on your computer has this small image displayed problem,

but adding image from a url like my picasa web shows up a reasonable size (still smaller than original)

see ho-to video thread for example in the casting resin post..
