not sure what you mean by 'new style' but have seen/done many a univair valve for both tanks....
pay attention to hole diameter called out, and you may need to anodize(electroplateish) the new hole...... to prevent corrosion/deterioration...
the Dakota valves come predone for it, (and STC'ed) and may be a better choice now....
I have drilled the Allen style valve for both with out any problems. The "O" ring is already there. Be sure you drill and lable it correctly.
I replaced the original Allen valve with a new one from Univair a few years ago.

Does the AD still apply to the Univair valve?

BUT... I guess it's an AD against the airframe or such.... So some FAA have wanted it signed off still......I disagree ......
That whole bottom block of an AD where it says you have to get authorization for alternative means of compliance......
Kinda like the strut AD list putting sealed struts on as a means of compling with the AD and getting rid of the repetitive inspections.....
just get ahold of Eddie Trimmer in Willow, he has an STC for the maule fuel valve. I think that the valve was $75, and the Stc was 100. Works great, and looks just like the Cub style fuel valve with no mods to the airframe mounting. Ron
Any body ever use the Cessna style valve? They are small, compact and easily serviced (and I got one on the shelf in the hangar). Experimental in my case, Field Approval for others.
