I think about this fly-in all winter. There are two events on my must do list each year and this is one of them.

Bill stopped by in 39Y this morning, Patty fixed him breakfast and he headed north with a big tailwind, said he should make it home before dark and would be back when he picked his Dad's Cub, or for the fly-in.

Everything is working out and we will post the registration in a week or so, it's gonna be fun fun fun.

Last year I went to bed early so I don't know for sure, but I heard it was all the Cajuns fault, Eaton do you know?

SJ, you are going to have to teach me how to shape em up this year, I guess we could make a no dancing allowed rule, or at least have a no videos of the dancing rule. Or, maybe when it gets late you can just play some music they can't dance to.

Pat if your plans change and you can make it stick with me & I'll keep you out of trouble.

  23. #23
That sounds right, Mike, it must of been the Cajun's fault. I'll go with that.

    Pat

  24. #24
Must have been a wild dog crawling back to their tent,,,, a cajun dog... ... But I see he got lost and ended up in Kansas..

  25. #25
any pics of the dancin' and carryin' ons?

    windy

  26. #26
Windy, videos past and future are banned, but you might find one on the black market (youtube hint hint)

When you get here stick with me and I'll show you the best place to camp, by the way do you know how to dance? Sooooo glad you are coming, we are gonna have fun

Just got a text from Yvette, she says Bill is home and had a good flight

  27. #27
Yea, he was making 160 mph across the ground in 39Y with a Borer prop.

I'll sell last years OK18 videos to the highest bidder. Eric, Pat? I gues there is one advantage to me not drinking.

    Mike
With all the guys gone up north maybe this would it be a good time to talk about some new rules for the take off contest? I was thinking maybe a handycap based on decibels? maybe 3 ft for each decibel over what my plane is?
Looking forward to a great time

This year is shaping up to be the best OK18 Fly In ever!

I have just about finished the Poker Run course. This year will be a little different than last. We will be going in to a few (3) different strips....most with grass...one is 4000' of pool table smooth grass!

Depending on how we decide to split the Poker Run pot, someone could walk away with over $700! And then there is 2nd and 3rd place!

Looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new one's....this is a great way to kick off the Summer Fly In Season.

Just completed my registration. Was hoping to bring the newly refurbished Rebel to its first real flyin but the replacement doors are not going to be finished in time. Luckily, Dad has offered up his Rebel for the trip. Laura and I are looking forward to a weekend away without the kids. Been looking forward to this flyin since seeing the pictures of last years event.

    Great James!

Looking forward to meeting Laura. And seeing you too, of course!

    Doug,,

That 'ol fox from Kansas is practicin... Landed the other day in 11 feet... a little more to the story,,, but I will let him tell it...

I think we can offer handicaps... $50 a foot... money goes for a good cause... Just shorten your landing distance by 20' for only $1000.... and you get braggin rights...

I was out with Mike to pre-fly some of the poker run stops over the weekend which will be a combination of great stops from last year and some new grass for this time around on what looks to be a great route that culminates at a new lunch stop. Really beautiful and GREEN this spring and so far the lake is about normal, the runway at Mike and Patty's has grown in well after last years dirt work and planting plus Mike just finished (I think he watched) rolling it (old golf course construction trick I told him about… we used to steel wheel roll the fairways so the carts don't jar your teeth makes for a quick final inspection) sure makes turf grass nice to land on... it is way smooooooth this year!

Besides the poker run we’ll have several options for EAT fly-outs when there is not prime eating at OK18, for play or rubbernecking, and one spot where properly equipped cubs can go land at a timber lined strip and talk jungle flying with the caretaker who is a really neat gentleman that used to be a missionary pilot in Central America. He loves cubs and now flies a straight tailed 172 with big tires on it...

Oh and as always Patty (Mike's better and really hard working half) was simply radiant. We conspired on the steak dinner menu for Saturday evening and then she sent me home with enough fresh produce from HER garden to last my family well into next week... yum and I don't even like vegies... but I think the garden fence will be bear charged during the fly-in!
