ECi Cylinders!

Good old' Eci cylinders are doing what they do best.... separating head-to-barrel on their cylinders. We have a newly overhauled engine 160 hp engine (15.7 hours) on it with new ECi cylinders. We caught it before anything happen but the next thing is that your thinking, just send them off for warranty. lol. What warranty?
So we jump through hoops, filled out all the paper work. Then waited for a phone call back and we got one telling us that the cylinders that were bought in '05 are not covered under the warranty. The cylinders sat on the shelf till we had all the parts to build the engine, so with that in mind, "Its been too long for installation of cylinders and we cannot warranty the cylinders." "You can send them to us so we can inspect them and make any repairs as need." This will make the second time we had to deal with cylinders separating from head to barrel problem. If one does it then when will the other three? Thanks ECi! NEW Lycomings cylinders are on there way.

Are these the cylinders effected by the Airworthiness Directive?

The same company that sent me all four of my cylinders in one box and nothing to protect them. They banged together and busted the cooling fins off of each other. They lost a customer for life from then on. Never gave me a discount or even an apology.

There not subject to the AD by serial number of the cylinders.

So these are new Titan cylinders that failed and they are not the ones subject to the AD? All the Titans I have gotten were individually boxed in a special box with Titan logos. These are not rebuilt?

Bad deal I have had nothing but Good from ECI Had just over 1500 hours on ECI Titans from 2003 and they replaced them for just over $400 a jug with shipping to Alaska ( the sn# were in the A.D. list). Currently have almost 400 hours on these New Titans no Problems. Know of 2 others I fly with same deal replaced no questions asked and they were shipped in less than a week. First 0320 I've heard of with blowing a cylinder, know of the bigger engines that have had problems. Indabush all 4 cylinders in 1 box ? usually they ship them individually boxed Superior had similar problems Lycoming has always been good. Sorry for the problems

I got my Titan ECI cylinders new for my 0-320-150, individually boxed and well protected. I now have 300 hours on them and no problems. When I researched for new cylinders at the time I found complaints and complements for all the choices.

These are Titan cylinders that did not fall with in the AD's and are not rebuild cylinders. They are/were new cylinders. Just unreal that we were told no warranty on them. But the lycomings are work'n great!

I was always under the impression that the only new cylinders come from Continental or Lycoming. Didn't know the ECI's were new as well.

Yeah that's what they said, must be in the fine print somewhere? I don't know. I do know is the cub i back in the air and seems to be making more power than before. Feels stronger anyway lol

At the place where I used to work they were having to pull off Millennium
by Superior that there was a new AD or maybe a SB... I can't remember but was the same problem head to barrel sep. Has anyone else heared that?
