    YOP ... promo items

    Your Opinion Please

We've been giving big (poster style) calendars to BC Floatplane Ass. members for many years.
    I think they suck.

So in the name of constructive criticism (not just bitchin') can you help me with another promo item idea that is practical (will be appreciated/used)?
Would like to keep 'em under ~ $5, and be mailable.

What have YOU received as a promo thingie that you appreciated?
OK, think ... type ... thanks in advance.

We found ourselves using the personalized sticky-note pads folks gave us so I had my own made. Everyone seems to like them.

Thanks for the input... the good the bad & the funny.

Kinda leaning towards the mugs, cheap ($1.79 printed, 1 color) but the shipping is horrendous. I could put the floater &/or opener inside the mugs!

Patrol Guy, you're even more practical than me, but that would be short-lived memory & we'd probably get in trouble for printing our logo on 'em.

Doesn't "sound" like there's much in the way of promo trinkets that make an impression.
    Thanks...

    I'm with you. I'm not a fan of knick-nacks.

If you are going to give something away, at least find something useful. Makes me shake my head when some of our vendors come over around xmas and give some (chinese) junk out with their logo on it.

    Hey,

a magnet with a note pad is a great one! Sticky or not.

My hanger is steel, so I use these give away note pad calener from the real estate for everyting, just flip it close to a wall and it stays!

How about a Headset hook for the plane with logo? bend them out of a small piece of aluminum.

Remember, lots of people see these things so the advertising is what is the seller for businesses.

You guys are float plane folks, so think float plane...

    Foam covers for cans
sun protector for the dash with logo
    new line for the plane
float key chain, (get real, we all use these, or should)
Magnet (for fridge or to pick up that @#$%$###$%$ part you droped into the water again)
plastic bucket with log to keep in the plane full of survival gear (2 galon size?)
full set of flies with locations to use them
    paddles
I don't know where you've been me lad, but I see you won first Prize!

I haven't found for 2009 yet, but the best company hand out I ever use is the wallet sized calender in credit card size. Most useful thing I ever pick get as a freebie.

I am one of them types who picks up patches, pins and other doodads, but that card size calender is tops.

Just got a cool little metal notepad thing from AK Bushwheels and have been using it constantly. The wife said I had to snag one for her next time, so I'm taking that as permission to spend more money, Wup!
Even with the age of the blackberry, palm, etc.; sticky pads, note pads and calendars are well used and visible. That said, I do like the mug idea with the keychain. Who doesn't drink coffee?

You know those plastic letter opener things (about the size of a credit card) with the embedded blade? Several years ago I got one at a safety seminar that was slightly larger and designed to cut seat belts. Since then I have velcroed it to the wing root above my seat - just in case. Haven't needed it yet, but you never know. That thing with a logo would probably be pretty cheap to acquire and easy to mail. It might save your butt too.

It seems that the best option is the mug. Useful (to most) and a good surface for the logo, and fairly cheap. Will need just over 300, & the bill printed both sides & delivered here is $3.13/ea. Then I haft'a find out how much to mail one to George. Postage might be the killer.

I think we could SELL some @ the AGM for spousal units, friends, etc, and those who attend could haul their own damn mug home. Maybe half would get mailed. We have members from Tex to Ak, and east to Ont.

Now... on to something completely different (& interesting?)

I use the plastic ones often to bail out floats, boats and other items.

(sink floats to keep bird from flying away in Illiamna conuntry)

But I do dirnk other liquids in mugs, and would be honored to own one from any pilot organization.

Send me an application, I will send you some $ for the mug and membership. If it keeps up losing motorcycles and such here I may mover over there.

Why is Nimpo sending me a mug and steve will not? Hmmmm

WOW, thanks George. I'll send you a copy of the last (Dec) newsletter, which has the join/renew form @ the end of it. Only 40 Canuckbucks, which are at a 20% discount lately.

The mug thing: I'm trying to convince the other directors to drop that big poster style calendar & go with something else (like mugs). So, if I can get these (other) old dogs to do a new trick, we'll have mugs. Otherwise, you'll be stuck w/your old plastic one.

Oh, and Steve sent you a calendar etc... we just have different trinkets.
Thanks again George, you're OK no matter what everyone says!!
