    Flying rock and gravel protection

I just put 26" bushwheels on my bird and am starting to practice on some rocky strips. Have been looking at the leading edge of my elevators and the hard rubber protectant is getting chewed up. Am looking to replace them later this year, but am having trouble finding something to replace them with. Anyone flying off airport and found a nice product? Thanks.

Keep your tail high and most rocks will go underneath. Rocks fly on initial touch down.

Stoddards carries heavy black leading edge tape in a couple of widths. It is pretty tough stuff and seems to work well.

Tail feathers are one of the consumable items on a cub if you are flying off airport. The only way to stop damage is to stay on paved runways.

I sure have. Set of EDO 2000's will get rid of all your gravel problems. Since installing the EDO 2000's I haven't had any gravel damage to the plane.

Obama was young and fast enough to grab that bill. McCain said he is too old to try and besides he said his wife is LOOOOAAADDDDDED. And, I apologize to the author of this thread for hijacking it some. A friend of mine does that off airport stuff a bunch and he says you need to stay off of the brakes at higher landing speeds. Don't mash on the brakes real hard when you first touch down and land as slow as you can safely do so. Just passing on what I have heard other folks say. I personally used the leading edge tape on mine and I never took any big rock dings. I did the off airport stuff for about 9 years. I ain't no expert, that is unless you want to talk about trout fishing.
