    My first time...

It's been done before, but it's my first time.
    no, NOT that

I've got 'er in the shop, just starting the rebuild/recover today.
Just fits in my lil' shop but I'll git'er done by spring hopefully. I plan to work pretty much full time, with several playdays off, I'm sure.

She just fits, but I think I'll have enough room to swing my tools. Just can't throw anything.

Unfortunately, all my airplane-smart neighbors are away, so I'll haft'a pay the local certified wrench for the necessary help. I'll try to not bug y'all too much

Looks Cozy. Congratulations. In an ideal world we'd all have at least 2 planes. One to fly and one to work on. And I like the current color scheme. Nice departure from all the yellow, or red and white cubs. Hope you're planning do something similar.

If I can make one suggestion though. Ditch the incandescent lights in your shop. Replace them with some twin tube 4' T8 fluorescents. You'll get 20 times the light for less energy. Makes a huge difference.

    Nimpo,
Perfect registration for a project... C-"Fixing"
    Enjoy!

I bet bugs in the cockpit aren't a problem when a plane has a vented aft fuselage like yours. And it must keep the cockpit temps pleasant on hot summer days, but I think it might be a bit chilly for winter flying.

Thats a tight fit! Be sure to replace the bungees after you take it out of the shop cause it looks like it barely fits....

    Logan-

    Not picking but...

The best thing you can do right now is organize your shop for good workflow. A week of organizing will save you hours of running in circles.

I was thinking the same thing. It ain't 'the garage' anymore. It's "the Hangar".

    Have fun. DAVE

Yeah, Anti... I'm thinking blue/white again. I'm gonna do all the upper surfaces dark so the frost disappears quickly. Metal belly too.

Mikey, we all had that laff just after I bought her. In the spring she'll be C-FOXY (at least in my eyes)

PA-12, we couldn't wait to see what was "in there". Doesn't look too bad (yet).

Grant & Behindprops, I certainly plan to do some more re-arranging before I get serious about dismantling things. I had to take out several "things" already and park 'em in the new house carport. Once I get the tailfeathers & wheel gear off the traffic pattern will improve There was some urgency to get 'er in there, so I haft'a cllear stuff afterward. Somehow, I'll git'er done!!

Some advice from a guy that has made a few mistakes... Measure where the rudder cable holes in old fabric go through. You'll want to know that when its time to make holes in your new fabric. After you cut the fabric off, take photos of everything before dis assembly. A picture is worth a thousand words? You might want to save the old fabric too, to help place inspection holes, etc.

Thanks for the good advice. I've been told that stuff already. I hear that if I take a thousand pix, I'll still wish I had one from a diff angle.

I'm really looking forward to this, I think it'll be a rewarding experience (s'pecially when I'm DONE!!

Moose hunting today, saw 3. One large bull but no good shot, two south-ends of northbound meese. (??) Life is good, XNG is patient so far. Nothing to interrupt me tomorrow but the ambulance pager. Will get the shop rearranged.

5- smoke, it will screw up your Osh Kosh paintjob.

6- lifting eye attached to the crossbeam and the come-along has been approved
1- I kinda doubt that, but I'll try it & see if I like that approach.

2- Yeah. This year I'm doing my cub, next year I'll do my 747.

3- Those are just water spots, experimenting with keeping the dust down.

4- White is too bright after partying too late, black makes my eyes go funny.

5- I'm not big on pretty/shiney, just practical stuff fer me!!

6- Still waiting to hear back from the Canuck Feds on that one (I haven't called 'em so I don't anticipate a prob.)

Still good powers of observation for an old guy!!

Ya make some good points. I'm guilty of spending more time working ON my shop then IN it.
But, dang my lighting is awesome!
