what type of camera did you use?
Duckhunter,
It's actually just a cheap-o Kodak digital. Got it at Wal-Mart for a $100 bucks.
Jerry's -12. Now with 160 ponies under the cowl !!!
Scout at Bowstring. This place will be on the list of stops for next years tour.
You really have to appreciate Minnesota when there are towns here named "Bowstring".
Nice photos, Dave. Wish I coulda' been there.

The colors up this way at peak right now, but we're supposed to get some 30 mph winds the next few days so they'll probably be gone. Sure was nie to get a good day to go check 'em out !! Had lunch yesterday in Grand Rapids, after stopping at Bowstring. Very nice little cafe right at the terminal, home made soup, pie ...etc.
Back at home after a great day of fall flying !!
Nice shots Dave. It's been a great Fall for color here as well.
Jon - if you think Bowstring is a cool name, what about, "Bucksnort, MN" (south of Rochester near Chatfield)
Brad
Just came across Mn. and west Wi 2 days ago---spectacular colors ;---thanks for sharing the beautiful pics Wish I'd have remembered film for the camera![]()
Well, Brad, "Bucksnort" is quite special, too.Originally Posted by Cubus Maximus
I wonder, though, how many other states can boast of a town named "Embarrass". This town has the reputation for having the coldest winter temps in the lower 48.
Alaska has "Chicken", so they can also claim to be 'cool'. Wisconsin, Minnesota, the Dakotas, Iowa and, I believe, Washington, all have the old Indian names. Alaska has its Inuit towns and villages.
I think they're much better than the southwestern Spanish names.
Dave: Weren't you a bit higher than normal for the homestead photo? I didn't think you went that high. I hope you weren't scared!
I was out on Wednesday afternoon but things are pretty bland around here already. Today's and tomorrow's wind will really strip the leaves. Now, I guess, we wait for ski-flying to start.
I've got a buyer coming to see the K-A Champ tomorrow, so I may be grounded for a while. We'll see. No, I still won't be able to buy a Cub. The next one will probably be a Stinson Station Wagon. With fat tires and skis, of course!

We have an "Embarrass" in Wisconsin Too. But I don't think it's big enough to even have a thermometer to record temperatures!Originally Posted by Jon B.

Okay, how about Fertile, MN???
Or Climax, MN?
I think the folks around the Red River Valley were sorta one track minds in winter hereabouts.....

Hey Mike you are getting to know the state pretty good I'd say.
Are you going to Park Rapids tomorrow? Winds might ground me. We'll see.

MVivion's mention of Fertile MN reminds me of Manly IA and the local headline when I lived in the area 30 years ago of Manly man marries Fertile woman.
I went to 1st and part of 2nd grade in good old Fertile, MN. (mid 50's) My Dad worked for Salem Motors (Ford). And old George (Salem) was like a Granddad to me in those days. Thanks for bring up the memories......

I've been told the all time best newspaper headline from that neck of the woods was,
"Fertile woman dies in Climax".
Somebody has to mention this every time we drive Hwy 2...
Ive been to Intercourse, Pennsylvania.
A big list of weird city names. We have "Frankenstein" Missouri to be proud of.

Drive 17 miles north of Alexandria and the sign will
welcome you to Dry Prong, LA.
No one ever asks where that name come from.
Drive out Hwy 190 west of Baton Rouge 31 for miles
and cool down in Krotz Springs.
Not only is there Hell MI (in the Lower Peninsula), but also Paradise MI (in the UP). We like to keep things balanced here.
Great pictures, Dave!

Baloney is still baloney, no matter how thin you slice it.
I live in between Monkeys Eyebrow and Possum Trot Ky. 2000 agl radio tower at Monkeys Eyebrow so you can't miss it. The trees are about 10 days away from good color here in W. KY
Hmmm...
It seems that my father-in-law is right.
The first liar doesn't stand a chance!
I don't think I can beat either Monkey's Butt or Possum Lodge, or whatever the heck they were. I fold.
The photos are still very nice, Dave.
