Tail wire

12-15 lb. pull = 1/2" deflection. That is for all the Pipers. Never seen a different figure for the 180 hp conversion.
 
Your tail is going to shake no matter what. That's the first thing I did was tighten my tail wires to spec (thanks for that info back then too, Steve). Crosswinds has a neat tail brace to provide additional support for the 180 conversions. I'll get it, one day. It's expensive. But they attach to the jackscrew and brace out to the underside of the horizontal. The braces move up and down with the trim system. I'm assuming Top Cub is similar to a 180 modified PA-18 in most respects, but maybe I'm off-base.
